Those are adorable, Annie. From what I understand, cake pops are all the rage these days. Wish I had one of yours!

Actually Annie, when you click on the second one it shows a bigger pic on photobucket, so that's good. When you click on the first one and go to the photobucket pic it still shows small. So, it worked..lol

Ohhh,...ok,now when you click on first one it shows that bigger pic too...so whatever you did on photobucket worked.

Question about your pops...do you put the sticks in the balls and freeze them first? I have found I need to reduce the amount of frosting I use in the cake/ frosting ratio. The Bakerella site's recipes seem to produce a ball that's too moist. Slightly firmer balls seem to hold up better when dipped and embellished. Please share your tips!!

Deb, I don't have many tips, as this is the 2nd batch I've made. I did find that I had to dunk the ends of the sticks in the coating, then stick them into the cake balls and freeze them before dunking to coat or they just slipped off the sticks into the melted coating.

I have to confess, these are not the crumbled up cake and frosting mixture, I made those once and just found the texture too disgusting. These are made with one of those "Babycakes" baking pans, Makayla got one for Christmas. You just fill the indentations with cake batter, bake 5 minutes and have little balls of cake. You still have to dunk the sticks in coating and freeze them, though.

To put the ears on the cake, though, I had to cut little slits in the sides of the cake balls to insert the ears. Some broke in half, but I "glued" them back together with coating, figuring that after they got dunked, no one would notice. I was right...

Funny you should mention "Hello Kitty". The first batch I made, with the frosting/cake mixture, was supposed to be "Hello Kitty". I used butterscotch chips for ears and made fondant bows. Dunked the cake pops and tried to make faces with those edible marker things. I got something that looked more like zombies with horns and pink bows, LOL, they'd have scared the dickens out of "Hello Kitty". The worst part was that they also tasted disgusting, even the kids wouldn't eat them.

So, I guess you don't want pointers from me. (grin)

Many years ago I made a mess of cake balls for a baby shower. They looked terrible but tasted so good. For sure your cake pops look much better than I could ever dream of finagling.

I'm so out of it, I've never heard of cake balls. Those are so cute, Annie. I may try something like that for my grandson, although if they gave you trouble, and you're experienced, I know I'd be cussing and grinding my teeth trying to get it right.

My grandson would love zombie cake balls. Maybe I should try what you did with the Hello Kitty ones. lol.

Lily (6 year old grand daughter) will love these. I bought her a Quesadillas maker, she has made dinner twice. This will be our next project.
