Minnie Mouse Cake Pops

This is a combination test and post, LOL. Today Elery's granddaughter, Jillian, had her 3rd birthday party, and so I made cake pops. She loves Minnie Mouse so it seemed reasonable. Ears were mini oreos, taken apart and "glued" to the cake pops with chocolate. The bows were cherry flavored gummy valentine hearts.

I've resized with Photobucket's new "edit" feature, so I'm testing for size right now, you are my guinea pigs. (grin)

OK, never mind. I apparently can't make it bigger, although I uploaded the picture again just to make it a different size. I'll work on it....

Liltika - Your poor plants! The winds and rains are not kind, unfortunately... but plants seem to recover pretty well. Those daisies are gorgeous! The colors are so bright! I can't recall the name, but if those are what I think they are, I've only seen them in white, lavender and orange in this area... sold as "accent annuals" for container arrangements. Lizalily - I wonder if naturalized peacock tastes anything like wild turkey? If they are a nuisance, some could probably be hunted without taking the entire flock... sort of like deer in the state parks... draw a lottery for tags! I must admit, they are extremely beautiful with full feathers... however noisy they may be! When the weather turns rainy and stormy like it is, I'm glad to have strong prescriptions to offset the pain! It's like having a disease plus really bad arthritis! Not fun, at all! I imagine your knees are a bit stiff and sore, too! Getting older is hell, sometimes! Speaking of roses... the entire red climber is now covered in bright blooms! They all opened the day after I took the above photos, wouldn't you know it! If I had waited one more day... oh well. All the minis are popping, too! And there is a coral colored climber getting ready to burst, as well! The scent is very light, but the sight is special! Christina - Adopting a kitten from a shelter is a great idea! Shelters are so full of abandoned animals... it makes my heart sick to think humans do this... allow animals to multiply and then dump them, or buy a pet only to throw it away when they discover it's more work than they thought! I don't understand how people can be so cruel... it's positively criminal, not to mention very telling of how careless and sick society is... Adopt two kitties so they have each other as pals, if you can! That's two little lives saved... and twice the mice hunted! All the rain has left the area hot and humid, but the plants are loving it! Overnight, more flowers have opened, and plants look greener and healthier! I'm hiding indoors... in air-conditioning... during the hottest part of the day... but I have been spending some time pulling weeds before they totally get away from me, and take over the gardens!

Thanks for the complements everyone. Jo: I have to admit i was a little skeptical over Mini Skirt. I have ordered a few Hostas where the photo online drew me in. Only to find it is not a good representation of how the plant is going to look. But I have to say this looks true to the hype. I love the curl to the leaf. If that is what is drawing you to Flamenco Mouse. Also look up Church Mouse. I have to admit its my fault mine did not survive. But the twist in the leaf is very tight. Much like Mini Skirt. It was one of my favorites. I will be replanting it. Babka: I would recommend pinching out the all green eyes coming out on your Cat and Mouse. They will grow more vigorously and take over. It would be a shame to loose the shadowing that makes C&M unique. The BME photoed above is actually a division off my older Main clump. My original BME is about 6 years old now. last years plant was about 18" across! Almost as big as my clump of Blue Cadet of the same vintage. Phil: Sorry to hear about your Frosted M.E. I have to say I do not think it is as a strong performer as many other sports. My clump is three sessions old right now and still has only one eye. At the same time I planted it. I also planted Holy M.E., Royal M.E. and Mighty Mouse all four from TC. The later three all have 3~4 eyes now and much bigger. Jason

Computer freezes no mouse control

I have started having some very strange problems with mine. I have 3 computers hooked up to one KVM switch so I only have one monitor, mouse, keyboard and speakers for all. My mouse is a wireless usb, my keyboard is older hp keyboard with a ps2 to usb adapter which plugs into my usb slot of the KVM switch. I can start up my hp xp computer and everything works fine, just as it should, my other computers, linux and new xp pc all work fine. The problem comes when I switch from my HP xp pc to one of the others on the kvm then switch back to the HP xp, then my mouse is locked up and at times so is my keyboard, my computer is on and working fine but I have no control, I tried unplugging the usb mouse and the usb keyboard but that now does not help, it seems as if there is no power to them. And the strangest part is I got my old ps2 mouse out and tried plugging it directly into the back of my HP xp machine and that did not work either, nor did plugging my ps2 keyboard directly into the ps2 plugin on the back of the pc. I have to do a hard shutdown of the HP xp machine to gain back my full control then all is fine. I do not have that problem on either of the other 2 pcs that are connected to the kvm switch. I have been going nuts trying to troubleshoot this and figure out what the heck is causing it. So if any of you have any thoughts or ideas on what to try please let me know I am willing to try anything just about at this point. I did just plug in a new keyboard which I had available, it is ps2 also so I have the usb adapter on it plugged into the usb slot on the KVM switch and still have the usb wireless mouse. I am on my linux pc now and everything works perfectly. I may try a system restore to before these issues started, it seems there are a few other settings that are different on my HP machine that happened about the same time but who knows if that is related. At this point I am just leaving it shut down till I need to access it then I boot it up do what I need and shut it down again. A pain! I do not know much about electricals and that sorta seems like what this maybe. I also considered if my usb card has gone wacky in my pc and is not providing good power to the kvm switch. Anyone??? got any ideas?

Actually Annie, when you click on the second one it shows a bigger pic on photobucket, so that's good. When you click on the first one and go to the photobucket pic it still shows small. So, it worked..lol

Ohhh,...ok,now when you click on first one it shows that bigger pic too...so whatever you did on photobucket worked.

Sooooo cute Annie!!! Definitely stealing that idea! The girls like taking cake pops to school for their friends...yeah, I know what you're thinking!! Yup, high school girls. The next gal wants Hello Kitty...I'll copy your idea! Thanks!

Question about your pops...do you put the sticks in the balls and freeze them first? I have found I need to reduce the amount of frosting I use in the cake/ frosting ratio. The Bakerella site's recipes seem to produce a ball that's too moist. Slightly firmer balls seem to hold up better when dipped and embellished. Please share your tips!!

Deb, I don't have many tips, as this is the 2nd batch I've made. I did find that I had to dunk the ends of the sticks in the coating, then stick them into the cake balls and freeze them before dunking to coat or they just slipped off the sticks into the melted coating.

I have to confess, these are not the crumbled up cake and frosting mixture, I made those once and just found the texture too disgusting. These are made with one of those "Babycakes" baking pans, Makayla got one for Christmas. You just fill the indentations with cake batter, bake 5 minutes and have little balls of cake. You still have to dunk the sticks in coating and freeze them, though.

To put the ears on the cake, though, I had to cut little slits in the sides of the cake balls to insert the ears. Some broke in half, but I "glued" them back together with coating, figuring that after they got dunked, no one would notice. I was right...

Funny you should mention "Hello Kitty". The first batch I made, with the frosting/cake mixture, was supposed to be "Hello Kitty". I used butterscotch chips for ears and made fondant bows. Dunked the cake pops and tried to make faces with those edible marker things. I got something that looked more like zombies with horns and pink bows, LOL, they'd have scared the dickens out of "Hello Kitty". The worst part was that they also tasted disgusting, even the kids wouldn't eat them.

So, I guess you don't want pointers from me. (grin)

Nice and so cute! I can see this as an afternoon project with the Grands.

Many years ago I made a mess of cake balls for a baby shower. They looked terrible but tasted so good. For sure your cake pops look much better than I could ever dream of finagling.

I'm so out of it, I've never heard of cake balls. Those are so cute, Annie. I may try something like that for my grandson, although if they gave you trouble, and you're experienced, I know I'd be cussing and grinding my teeth trying to get it right.

My grandson would love zombie cake balls. Maybe I should try what you did with the Hello Kitty ones. lol.

Lily (6 year old grand daughter) will love these. I bought her a Quesadillas maker, she has made dinner twice. This will be our next project.
