This is the wine we bought

Tami, I was actually in the kitchen the last day the kitchen was open at my fav restaurant. It was closed the previous day and the chef invited us and a bunch of friends. He was cleaning out the refrigerator and freezer so he cooked lobster, chicken marsala, and at my husband's request (for me) Rick did fettuccine alfredo. I got to watch it all! The chicken for the marsala should be LIGHTLY browned because it will be cooked a bit more later. My treasured alfredo sauce--melt butter, add the cream then melt the cheese stir and serve. I'll treasure that night forever! It was a grand farewell to a restaurant that had lived for 30 years. And it was a night to really learn to cook some wonderful dishes at the hands of a fantastic chef. The memories linger.

LOL! Actually, the chicken was lightly browned. The sauce was a little darker. The thing is, I used my phone's camera to take the pics with and it doesn't have a flash, so it came out looking dark.

That sounds like a wonderful memory, and a loss to the community with the restaurant closing.

You never know Annie! I have been cooking with Jack Daniels since before anyone ever talked about it. Maybe even before Jack did. Jack goes in a LOT of what I cook. Might be next week, who knows. If I can get out of cooking, I will! For someone who doesn't like to cook, for some reason, I sure spend a lot of time at the CF!

Well, my son in law would love you! The only thing I make with Jack Daniels is a glaze for grilled chicken, and it only has two tablespoons of Jack Daniels in it. A bottle could last me for decades!

Yes, for someone who doesn't like to cook, you sure hang around here a lot. (grin) Maybe we'll convince you that you LIKE to cook. Someday....

Beachlily, I'm so sorry about your restaurant. One of our favorites closed, then became a sports bar, which is not my type of place.

Mine became a 7-11 plus a gas station. I still mourn. And, nope, sports bars aren't my favorite either.

I'm still in touch with the chef. Dear guy. He could be like a son to me (I've never had children.) Last time he came over, he gave me a recipe for Chicken in Mushroom Sauce. He said they would have it every Sunday night at home, but that it wasn't pretty enough to serve at the restaurant. I'm going to have to try it!

Beachlily, I'd love to try that recipe too. I'll rely on your assessment of whether it's good before I try it, though, you can be the experimental taster, LOL.

A 7-11, though? That's just adding insult to injury. Ugh.

So what's going to happen to your chef? I'm hoping he has another gig set up where he can continue to cook for you.

Annie, the chef owns 3 parking lots over in the Tampa area and says he makes more from the lots than he ever did in the kitchen. He comes over here 2 or 3 times a year because his folks are over here.

I will try the chicken/mushroom recipe this weekend. Have to get stuff like this done before demo. Also, need to do honey wheat bread for rolls and sourdough.
