JMHO, while I like the Bevan Funnell, the dimensions seem a bit petite and I'm not sure it would be that comfortable. I prefer a chair that's a bit larger with a bit more detailing especially if this is a small room. I think my favorite is this Baker one from the same collection as the chest.

You might try posting on the home decorating forum as well. It's a more active board and has a lot of contributors who have great insight on design.

Funny, we saw that Baker chair before and loved it until we saw it's about a $1050 per chair. If they were $700 a chair we'd probably go with them. The Bevan's are 32x19x21 and the Baker one is 33x22x21. Is that a big difference for a chair?

Here's how we decided: we have the Statton table, and a bunch of English-style chairs that are 34 in. high, 16 in. deep, and 18 in. wide. We aren't particularly large people, but not very small either. The Statton chairs are more, ahem, modern American sized. Here is a photo of DH in the chairs, first the Statton, then the English. He is 6'1", about 190 lb, for reference.

The other reason I chose the Fulton chairs look really nice when you line them up around the table, the way the backs curve. I wish they were a tiny bit smaller, but I finally decided that it was too difficult to find the exact perfect thing. It just wasn't happening, and I'd been looking for a loooong time. We looked at those Baker chairs, too. I love them.

Thanks so much for posting those pics. It helps soooo much seeing other pics besides for the ones posted on the Statton site. A number of people on the decorating board mentioned the legs being too big and too many for the table size. Do they cause a problem in terms of people hitting them when they are seated? Also just curious what finish you have on the table? It looks like it would go well with our Baker chest. This pic also seems to highlight the details and the finish better than the one you previous posted. If you could post a picture of the table tops finish I would greatly appreciate it! We are so torn between the Bevan chairs and larger ones. We actually went to a store today that carried Bevan Funnell and their product is gorgeous. Of course they didn't have the any of the tables or chairs we are interested in but the pieces they had looked outstanding.

BTW: Your room is beautiful and we love the wainscoting detailing

Thanks -- we obviously have the same tastes, since we've been shopping for the same relatively obscure furniture! Glad I could help ... I know it's hard when you can't see everything. I saw the Statton in person, but not the Bevan Funnell, and it's hard to pull the trigger on something like that when you aren't 100% sure.

I answered the leg question in the Home Decorating forum. Short version: it isn't a problem.

The finish is New Market. It is lightly distressed.

I will post other pictures later tonight of the table, but I need to take DS to dinner right now.

Thanks again. You're helping make our decision much easier. We hadn't even thought of Statton until I read one of your previous threads. It seems like it fits our needs well. You mentioned your table is lightly distressed. We are looking for a slightly shinny finish. Does your table have this?

Yesterday we did go out and see some Bevan Funnell pieces at a local store. They looked very beautiful. They also showed us a Hickory White piece (item 740-11-07) in a catalog that looked nice. It's too bad they don't have a website so we could see more detailed pictures. Looking at previous threads it looks like they have been working on their website for a LONG time. Makes me wonder about how good of a company they are??

Okay, a little later than I said, but here are some more photos. The flash turns the finish sort of orange, so the last two pictures are with no flash, which gives a better representation of the color, which is browner, not orange.

I think you asked if the finish is shiny -- it is, but I think it's more of a satin, definitely not a high gloss. I think they will do a glossier finish if that's what you want. And you can choose distress levels, too. I think Centennial (light/medium finish) and Oldtowne (dark traditional cherry) are their no-distress finishes, and then Arlington, New Market, and Oxford are the distressed finishes, Oxford being the more brown/darker of the three, and Arlington being a little redder and lighter. New Market is in between.

We bought from Stevens Furniture in Lenoir NC -- used Sandy. I can't remember exactly how long it took ... 3 months?

I did receive an email from Statton, coincidentally, advertising a factory sale in November. What they do is send out a list of pieces and finishes that they have for sale in early November, and then the sale is in Maryland, I think, the weekend of Nov 18/19. They usually have quite a bit; I wish I had the list from last year, but I don't think I do.

Did you know Statton also has a European line? The link is http://www.sovereignfurniture.com/. The Winslow chairs look interesting. They have a European look but they are a good size.
