I would do a lot of homework as mattresses have changed the past few years. Fell in love with a Simmons Beautyrest myself a few years ago. Didn't even get the pillow top just the plush top. Bought the top of the line. Less than a year later, there was a big crater where I slept(130 lbs). Because of new flammability standards it is very hard to find anything other than a "no-flip" mattress. They say this is for your convenience but in truth it is just cheaper to put the higher grade safety material on just one side. Without being able to flip my Beautyrest it isn't possible to get even wear. Same with Serta, Sealy and most others. I was able to order a Doctor's Choice from Denver Mattress last year that they still had in the warehouse that was flippable(is that a word?:-)). They no longer make them either. When we were shopping for the first one we thought a saleman was just handing us a line when he told us to stay away from no-flip. Now we are wiser. And Skypath is correct. I would never buy a pillowtop, plush is as soft as you should go. Even with a mattress that flips.

This is funny you posted this, because I was wondering today if an ikea bed would work in the guest room. I think I decided against it for now. I dont know anything about MASH but I did consider their beds before I bought mine from dwr. I like that bed in your photo. Where I live, there are scorpions and centipedes and I wanted a bed with little surface area touching the ground. I have the dwr modern bed in walnut and really like it. I got it at their semiannual sale for 15% plus free in home delivery. I think they have a couple storage options also. I use the firmest mattress I have ever felt (a Simmons Beautyrest). It's great. It has only one sleeping side, so no flipping; it's designed for a platform base. This feels like a futon on a floor; it's solid. I'm 6 ft, 170 lbs. The mattress has served me well, with no signs of wear. I hate soft or medium mattresses. IKEA doesn't make one firm enough for me. Be aware, that just because a mattress is innerspring doesn't mean that it doesn't have a latex layer of padding.
