Anyone have a mattress from Costco??
Comments (1)We have one from a few years ago. I'd buy one for a guest room - but not for a daily sleeping room. Good value, but didn't last as long as I'd hope. For what it sounds like you want it might be a good deal....See MoreAnyone have a LATEX mattress?
Comments (53)I have a latex mattress. First let me say that I have bad reflux so I have to sleep in some unusual positions. I'm also getting older and I don't have as much padding on my hips, etc. Before all this I always slept on a hard mattress. I could not stand a soft mattress....made my back hurt. Well, I needed a new mattress and did a lot of research. I ended up buying from a company on-line who had lots of good reviews and I believe an excellent BBB rating. The customer service was great. They also gave a 365 day trial period. Plus free pillows and mattress cover. You could return it if you didn't like it. Just pay shipping back. You can't beat that. When I first tried it, it was wonderful. I don't think I even moved all night long. It is easy to get in and out of bed. You do not sink down into the mattress. You sleep on top of the mattress. It was perfect for me. Then I developed the medical issues with reflux. I had surgery and slept for the good part of a year sitting up on the couch. When I went back to the bed, I would start out alright but then my hips would hurt. I think it is because I have to elevate the head of the bed and then I sleep on my side and it puts pressure on my hips. I don't think the mattress has anything to do with it. I wish I had known this before my 365 day trial period was up. The mattress does not have that terrible smell that Tempur-pedic mattresses has. You do not sleep hot. It is great for adjustable beds. It is great for people who have allergies or asthma. I can't think of any negatives that can be attributed to the mattress. Well, it is heavy. I am going to sell it and get a soft mattress, though. But that is because of my hips hurting from me having to have the head of the bed elevated and I sleep on my side with it elevated. Not a very natural position. I guess the negative was that is was pricey, but it seems all the latex mattresses are pricey. And it is heavy....See MoreIkea mattresses
Comments (16)Very difficult. It is said that ppl have to lay on the mattress at the store to determine if it is comfortable. The big problem is that if a unit has been at the store for a while, it gets lots softer than it would at home. For example, one time there were 2 samples of Hallen on the showroom floor. One had been there for a long while and was quite a bit softer than a brand newly placed Hallen. Same model, different softness. There are also a couple of Ikea models that are available in two different firmnesses. Check the website and the particular options for each model. I zeroed in on Hansbo as it had a pillowtop and was described as what I was looking for. We are very happy with our choices. Consumer Reports did eval Ikea but not each different model. There are websites, not a lot of them, with reviews, but again, it's subjective. I took a chance because I love Ikea. Our new mattresses are in our newly purchased winter home in Arizona. I was thinking that it would be ok as it is not full time. But wait, the minute I get back to Chicago, I am dumping our old bed, buying Brimnes bed and getting new Hansbo mattress....See MoreAdvice needed on new queen mattress purchase
Comments (2)Tough one and I can relate. You own what is probably a pretty nice mattress still. There are gel infused versions from competitors which will be a bit cooler. They'll feel the same. When I'd have sore ribs from hockey I could cat nap on the memory foam we sold but NOT on the soft innersprings. My feelings: Hybrid/smybrid. There is little effective difference in having some coils hidden under several inches of foam. My suggestion would be try some at the store for a long time and get a good sleep trial from someplace which sells soft soft gel / memory foam model and a soft pillowtops. None of us sell fountain of youth mattresses which fix the pains of getting older but you can make the best choice possible that way....See Moreuptoolate
