I hope they're not. I sure love them. I'm not giving them up for skirts, no way. There are a lot of nice-looking 'women of a certain age', judging from our travels today on the first warm day this year, who agree with me. And I'm 5'3" :)

I think they're in style and look great when they're the right length.
If they're too long, IMO, they look like highwater pants. If they're too short, they look like pedal pushers.

I think they look best when they fall midway between the bottom of the knee and the ankle. And if they're cuffed and worn with heels that's a big plus.

I wear them all summer. I am definitely not tall or thin, but I think the right fit makes the difference. I like them a little fitted-- big loose baggy capris are not flattering. I prefer calf length. I usually wear tall wedge sandals to work, casual sandals on weekends.

I even wear dressy capris to court with heels :)

They are probably out of style since I own alot of them. Maybe it depends on what color they are. Are yours teal, grey or turquoise?

Crops or capris? They are two different styles. Capris are shorter than crops. I love both and even though I'm short. They seem to be very much in style here, I'm seeing them every day. Since I'm short, I have to be careful with the style but it can be done. Also, I rarely wear shoes that are completely flat (other than flip flops LOL), but I don't wear high heels either. What seems to look best on me with some of these pants is a 2 inch chunky or squared heel, or even a little shorter. Wedges too, again I don't wear high ones.

tina, that's what I thought (yeah, and I'm such the fashionista *rolleyes*). Aren't crop pants more boxy...well, like pants that are cropped off? Where capris taper in at the bottom?
I wear capris. Used to hate them, because I felt funny looking in them even tho I'm tall. But then I found some that seemed to fit better in the legs. Got hooked. Perfect for days when jeans are too casual, or too warm for jeans, too chilly for shorts.

I just wasn't seeing them in the catalogs as much as I had in the past, buy maybe they just didn't have the full spring/summer editions out! I'm glad gals are still liking them.
I also wondered what the difference is with capri vs crop. I do like the look of the tapered pants, but my ole cargo style from Ann Taylor a few years ago is my favorite bum around crop/cuffed pants.

If they are out of style, I didn't get the memo. I love my crop pants and capris for spring and summer. I live in them along with skirts in the warm weather. Once the weather breaks, my long slacks and all but one pair of jeans go into off season clothing.

The only thing I've seen on fashion advice-type shows would be to stay away from prints, patterns and stripes of any kind if you are on the short side or not extremely thin. Apparently the prints, etc. draw the eye down, and that not be the best thing?

ah I have a pair of capris in with wild flower colors. I think I looked like a fat easter egg on easter wearing them with a pink shirt.

I wear crops and capris year round with moccasins or sandals/slides. Don't care for the look with heels. Only own one pair of slacks. Had to buy those for a visit north last winter.

Sally, I was at Ann Taylor a couple of days ago and they have cropped and capri length pants. And, they are having a 25% off of entire purchase sale, online and in store.

For some reason I've been doing a lot of shopping this past week and I saw cropped and capri pants in all of the stores and bought a few pairs.

I do like the look with sandals, both flat and with heels.

I got a mail flier this week..can't remember for which store, I threw it away....but pants suits with cuffed crop pants were featured. These weren't your grocery store outfits, either; they were "uptown" outfits and were gorgeous.

Sounds like anybody wearing cropped pants is in style. I wish I could, but I can't wear them. I'm too short and not thin enough.

I just bought myself a pair of dark denim and a pair of khaki capri's. I love to wear them during warm weather since they're so comfy and much cooler than jeans.

The shopping networks (mainly QVC) are hardly showing anything BUT cropped pants and capris. Same thing with the catalogs I get. I don't wear them because I'm only 5'3" and would look ridiculous in them. Fortunately, our climate is almost always rather cool.

I have never found them attractive on anyone. The proportion is usually wrong, and they tend to make the 'back view' appear even wider. I would much rather see someone in a nice pair of longer shorts, which hit at the length a regular skirt might, than wearing pants that hit at a length that would be wrong were it a skirt.

When the models look bad in them, and they are 5' 10" and 112 pounds, you know it isn't a good look for the average woman who is 5'4" and a size 14.

Lots of people wear them but I don't think they're becoming on most.

I'm short and look silly in them. Even if I get a petite, and they fall where they're suppose to, they just don't anything for me.

Shee you can probably wear really cute shorts anyway.

It just dawned on me the majority of mine are what I guess I'd call cargo style? They have draw string hems, a few extra pockets & buckles here and there. I have one pair of Liz I kind of like (soo comfortable for traveling), but they are longer with a cuffed hem. I don't care for that look too much but comfort wins out on all day road trips. ;)

I need to get a few new ones, and shouldn't have waited so long. Can you believe in two months the winter clothes will be out?!

Capris Vs. Pedal Pushers

Capri pants, pedal pushers, motor scooter slacks and clam diggers all refer to short pants, first worn by women in the 1950s. Each of these terms referred to a different style or cut of pants; however, today, the terms cropped pant, capri and pedal pusher are often used interchangeably to refer to pants with a shorter than average length...

Capri Pants were introduced by Emilio Pucci in 1949. He sold the pants in his boutique on the Isle of Capri. These first capri pants were slim fitting and came to just below the knee. A small notch in the hemline allowed for ease of movement. Celebrities, including Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe were photographed in capri pants. These were available in solids or prints and were often trimmed with rickrack, ribbon or other accents. Dressier capri pants were made in silk or metallic fabrics.

Pedal Pushers and Motor Scooter Slacks were longer than capri pants and somewhat looser, coming to mid calf. These casual pants were designed to make outdoor activities, like bike riding more convenient. The shorter length prevented the hems from getting caught in the spokes of a bicycle or scooter.

Clam Diggers were an even more casual variation on the short or cropped pant. Clam diggers were quite baggy and often cuffed. They frequently came with a rope belt to add to the playful, nautical style. Clam diggers were worn for relaxed days on the beach and weekends at home.

Modern Capri Pants. Today, pants that fall anywhere from below the knee to mid calf are typically sold as capri pants. They can be quite slim fitting or much looser and are available in both casual fabrics and somewhat dressier ones. Choose a wide leg, flat front capri pant for a flattering look. Opt for hemlines that hit at a narrow point on the leg, either right below the knee or at the bottom of the calf muscle. Avoid cuffed capri pants as they can visually shorten the leg.

Cropped Pants also called 7/8 pants or flood pants are hemmed to just a few inches above the ankle. These pants can be worn with a jacket or sweater set to the office or dressed down with a tee and ballet flats for the weekend. This hemline can be difficult to wear and may make you look shorter, so consider carefully whether you like the look of cropped pants on your frame.

I guess I wear capri pants. I am not a 7/8 pant person, as most of mine end up at that length by the time they've been through the washer/dryer too many times! They look cute in the catalogs, but I've not actually purchased pants that stopped at the ankle because I just see high-waters when I look down at myself.
Wish I could wear the slim fitting capris and top like Audrey, but I'm not so fond of showing my "handles" on my waist! Her little flat shoes look cute, too, but I need a little arch support. Geez, my age is really putting a cramp in being stylish!

Even if Heidi Klum had them on, it wouldn't do much for me!

DD has a couple pair that I can "tolerate", but she's 5'10" and usually wears high-heels with them. I'm 6'3", and she's starin'-me-in-the-eye with heels on!

Still...not my favorite look...Sorry!

I absolutely love all versions of short pants and wear them all, however, I think they look best with flatish shoes as I consider them shorts alternatives or at best nice casual.
I'm also 6' so can get away with whatever length and width I want. I probably have 30 pairs or more.

If they are then I am soerly out of style! Maybe I should put down the decorating magazines and pick up a fasion magazine. Nah! I like the way I way I dress and I don't care if anyone else doesn't.

I just bought two pairs of sandals exactly like the ones in the pictures, one pair soft gold, the other black patent. They were sold out of the fuschia.

I love the slim fit ones too. I just bought a pair of "ankle" pants at Penney's that have a nice slim fit like that.
