Anyone having experience with ebonized ipe? Is it easy to scratch

Help! I am in the process of potential last minute change and am pulling my hair out. I had originally picked ebonized ipe to into the floors of our new home - found that the wood is floating in the ocean somewhere waiting to pass customs and may be a bit. In the mean time our 2 boys were playing with samples and I noticed that it was pretty easy to produce white scratches. Now I'm having second thoughts ...wondering if our beautiful hardwood floors will look awful in about a week with scratches everywhere? I'm thinking of switching to maybe brazilian mahoghany , something alitlte lighter that maybe won't show so much - however really love the look of ebonized ipe.
