years ago my husband brought home 4 old sewing machines from Home Ec class discards....I only kept one and not the machine...I had enough of those in high school...ha ha. But I did keep several of the drawers and just stack them on top of each other at an angle for display...can hide all kinds of stuff in them up on a shelf, lol. Mostly sewing supplies. My MIL gave me a wooden ironing board long ago and I just leaned it again a corner entertaiment shelf to keep the little ones from getting behind the shelf and pulling cords...their little hands can get anywhere. I also saw somewhere that someone used a metal ironing board to make a yard angel...they used scrap lumber for the arms and did not say what they use for head and wings, but I can improvise...I saw one around the corner in the trash and will get tomorrow if there. did not want to embarass the GS with his friends living there.

The thicker the piece, the more $$$. Also, the thinner the piece, the less steady. Glass tops show scratches so place mats or table cloth are a good idea. I think 1/2” would look good, no need to do 3/4”. You could look on CL for a glass top table in size you need. Depending on how glass edge is finished, you could turn glass over and use the smooth, scratchless side.

Floating floors are not loud if the proper underlay is used . I have laminate in my last 2 homes in my kitchens , i run a catering biz from both of those homes. I have installed laminate under cabinets but I think it depends on where you live if there are huge fluctuations in humidity it is porbably not the best . But a good installer can make sure the flooring goes under where the toe kick will be and make sure they undestand that at the beginning on your contract. Then there is no need for 1/4 round .As for the choice btween LVP and laminate both will not survive a flood and BTW either will tile or hardwood.

I am trying to find a pretty glass top table, approximately 42 - 44 inches in diameter, for my breakfast area. I would prefer not to have a pedestal base, but wouldn't rule it out if it is really lovely. There are some pretty drum style bases with open designs out there, but my practical nature can only see a problem trying to dust or mop under the table within the base without moving the whole table aside. That would be a deal breaker. I can use polished chrome or white painted legs, but I don't like the ubiquitous angled or crisscrossed legs, which are very popular styles right now. Unfortunately, my restrictions don't leave very many options. Any suggestions?
