To my eye it doesn't jump out as a hack job. And we've all seen many a hack job on this site. I do see the unevenness if I look really closely. The unevenness isn't uniformly along a line, which would indicate the tiles weren't set well (too much space between meshed sets). So either the tiles weren't set perfectly on the mesh, or the grout isn't cleaned out evenly. When you look closely at the grout, on the thicker ones, does the grout come up further on the adjoining tile? Or is it all cleaned out pretty evenly? If the latter, then the tiles weren't set perfectly in teh factory. IMO, it's within a reasonable tolerance given the small size of the tiles. I doubt it's noticeable from normal standing height.

Wow, this also happened to me. It was my bathroom floor which was mercifully small. Fortunately (or maybe not) it was my brother-in-law's work, a great guy who was just helping me out. :( He finished the job and left for home, on the other side of Calif. I was just cleaning up and noticed chunks of grout would pop out and/or turn back to sand. The tile store said it was because my grout was old and it would have to come out and be regrouted. As I was on hands and knees removing grout, entire tiles began to lift off. So, not just the grout was bad, but he had screwed up simply laying the tile. It was a total Charlie Foxtrot. At the time I was undone by this, the last in a series of well-intentioned blunders that made my poor bathroom a disaster. I paid a guy to redo the entire floor with new tile. The bathroom and I recovered. Hopefully you and your floor will too.

Well, unfortunately, homeowners don't KNOW their tile person is inadequate (especially when there has been a credible referral) until the bad deed is done. It's too bad he's been paid, but that's also done. I'd probably have him back to see what he suggests (for no more $) then take lots of pictures and sue him in small claims court. If you don't give him the opportunity to fix it, it could affect your ability to get $$ in court, but if you are dissatisfied with what he says his "fix" would be, or if he refuses, then you could be covered because he doesn't know what the heck he is doing. Find someone better, get it fixed right, then take more pics for court as a "before" and "after".

And I suppose a neurosurgeon is in charge of the local elementary school health office? Because that would be equally likely that someone who could earn hundreds of thousands was stuck somewhere patching up a old boiler and changing light bulbs in a hall. Maybe if he had his license revoked. With prejudice. Or he had to change his name and enter witness protection In which case, he would still not be legal. Sorry. but not sorry here. You hired a full blown hack. Intentionally hired a full blown hack. And you want to semi laugh it off as cute that you got ugly tile like it’s a lopsided wedding cake or something. No, it’s more like you got safety belts in your car made of lasagna noodles. It’s not cute. It actually damages your property in fundamental ways that completely ruins it’s value and functionality. Your are going to have s MUCH more expensive job the secind time around, after the rot. And after your neighbors below sue you for damage to their unit. You got what you paid for. And you didn’t get what you didn’t pay for. Mr. Cheapo didn’t do the job correctly. On any level. Sack it up and pay to have it all redone. You won’t be done with finding shortcomings, I guarantee it. And as the cherry on top, now your relationship with this “super” is damaged and he is going to be hissy about allowing access sad working with someone else to get it redone correctly. Don’t spit where you eat.
