so what brand wood/wood look vinyl or laminate do u have

can everyone tell me what brand wood or wood look floor you have and are you happy with it or not? where did it fall as far as price, and how did you decide on a particular brand? i am especially interested if anyone bought a product at menards or lowes etc, and are perfectly happy with it. i want something that we can do ourselves. i don't have a great deal of time to do research and i am going to look through the posts on this forum, but would love to see as much info as possible in this post. i prefer hardwood but my husband wants laminate and i am even considering vinyl peel and stick. it is a 20 x 36 room we need to do and i need to consider cost. thanks so much.

Looking for a 'brand' means so little. Pergo used to have 7 variations of product ranging from promotional to commercial. If someone recommended a 'brand' without knowing the exact specifications it means very little. If your looking at a box store brand, as I think you are, that makes a more compelling question than what 'brand' did you buy?

I don't know how thick the specs say, but I had a few planks of each as samples and they stacked right up beside eachother the same thickness, at least the ones I had. Oh, and this was the self-adhesive floating Allure I know they have an interlocking version that is thicker, come to think of it. I did that floor install all in 4 days of working about 14 hours a day, and I did treat myself to a massage afterwards! I was very sore from all the bending and my hands were bruised on the palms from pressing on the knife. I didn't think I was pressing hard but do it hundreds of times a day and you get pain! My hands actually became very swollen and I had to ice them. But, I minimized the time between our closing date and the time we could move in - we were renting a temporary furnished apartment between the sale of our previous condo and the move in to the new one... so I wanted to complete carpet removal, paint everything and install new floors in 10 days, and I did! So we saved a lot of money on additional rent as well as installation costs.. But I never want to do that again! I'd recommend going at a more reasonable pace :)

I have both tile floors and vinyl floor areas in my home. Tile wins! The tile is easy to clean and l still looks new after 20 years. No grout issues since we used a grayish brown grout (the tile is taupe). Never sealed it. We recently priced out some wood look tile plank for the family room. It is pricey,could almost do a wood floor for the same and after the prep work it may well end up costing more than hardwood. But I love the ease of upkeep with tile, we're putting in radiant floor heating and we like having big dogs. That makes tile much more practical than wood for us and I detest cleaning vinyl. We don't have issues with walking/standing on tile because we wear shoes. I wear flipflops in the summer and rubber soled slippers in the winter so my feet are cushioned. This is going to go against all the "expert" advice on keeping tile floors clean. Don't fuss about it. Choose a neutral grout and use nothing but a damp mop of warm water. You don't need special cleaners, steamers etc. In fact more grout is damaged by over zealous cleaning than anything else in my opinion.We'll be doing a white floor in our hall bath most likely. I plan to use a nice medium silvery gray grout.

Tile worked better for my home. I tried some vinyl in a couple of rooms, a few years ago, but my old, large dogs had trouble getting purchase to rise. If you're on a slab do the moisture tests to determine if glue down or floating is the way to go. You don't want mold growing underneath or installation failure. If you choose tile, make sure they leave an expansion gap around the perimeter and don't grout up to the baseboards. Every person I interviewed did it that way as a matter of course. I removed the baseboards and reinstalled them, to ensure I had the gap and a nicer finish than shoe mould. I also told him where I wanted the movement joint where the flooring ran longer than 20-25 feet. I'm extending this tile into other areas, with the current reno, and have indicated where the expansion joints will go, because they never use them. For the kitchen, watch the clearances for any under-counter appliances. They might not fit! Tile raises the height of the floor more than LVP will. My project manager wanted to install my flooring after the cabinets, which wouldn't have worked out well for the tall tub dishwasher. I think he rolls his eyes over my requests, a lot. A helpful link about tile movement. The tile I chose is Mohawk Stage Pointe and has high texture and shading variation. The grout color is the darkest of the shades and hides any staining that might occur. The close-up pic is how it looks IRL. Second is of the room right after install. I love wool area rugs and they dampen sound nicely, as well as providing softness underfoot. Most of the floor in the second pic was covered by an 11x14.

You must wait for a photo to clarify before you hit the submit button. That said? You are over thinking . Pick a nice oak in a slightly wider plank. A medium dark toasty color. Not gray, not orange. You can be sure it will "go" with everything. A lot of flooring will "go" with everything. Rooms do not remain empty. Rugs get laid down, Furniture is placed Art is hung, Windows get shades or curtains. The only time you will see JUST the floor is the day you move out. Rather than the approach you have taken? Look at entire rooms that please you. THEN look at the flooring. Are they modern, traditional, or a little in between? Light , or deeper and cozy? A floor should last "forever". This isn't the paint on the walls....."Oh, I think I'll paint the bedroom blue this weekend" Sand on site hardwoods, oak especially, have lived in homes for a hundred years and more .........and there might be a reason for that : )

i did see the thread on the novalis and i did see the product at lowes yesterday and my husband just has his mind made up that vinyl is going to be a junk product so i guess that is out. i just am confused. i did notice at lowes they have some prety good brand names such as armstrong//bruce etc but does this automatically mean it is a cheaper version of what you would find in a flooring store because it is at lowes? (like for instance) a line they made specifically to be sold only at lowes? the flooring i saw was from 3-9 dollars a sq foot. my sister in law bought her hardwood flooring at menards and they have had it for years with no issues but i just am confused about which products a person should feel okay with taking the plunge with and which are actually going to be a horrible product. i found an ad with a pergo floor that i absolutely loved then i looked up reviews and everyone hated it. i am tired of reading reviews, but i have a huge room to put flooring in, and it will cost alot of money so i was just hoping to hear from many people which floor they used that has been just wonderful or horrible. thanks

how do you know the fl*ooring was made for l*owes and isn't sold at a fl*ooring store - did you check?

if so, then I'd be leary of it. that is a huge room...

there are drawbacks to laminate also tho.

1st of all not everybody hated it..Just the ones with negative experience hated it..25 people out of 80000 people who buy something and write a complaint does not make a bad product....Now the vinyl products that hubby says is junk...VLT Vinyl Luxury tile...Nafco..Adura..Duraceramic...is superior vs laminate in my mind if moisture is involved...Your 1st issue is your looking for advice and your standing at Lowes...What? Get to a good flooring store...it will not cost you a penny more and you will see products on the floor, have an experience manager talk to you....iT WILL BE NO MORE MONEY...Lowes never beats my stores.. Now begin educating yourself properly with your local hard working flooring stores.

My floors are Harmonics (Quick Step) from Costco. I chose the handscraped hickory and am very pleased with the results. The laminates have come a long way in the last few years. I love wood floors but living in Florida and having dogs I wasn't comfortable taking the risk with wood. I bought the flooring while it was on sale for $2.16 sq.ft.(pad attached). The picture below was taken shortly after the install before I finished painting my baseboards.

We just installed Bellawood Brazilain Teak hardwood. We love the look of them and the color variation is absolutely beautfiul. We installed this floor in our sunroom, which has alot of traffic flow, mostly because we have an 80lb dog.

so what brand wood/wood look vinyl or laminate do u have
