so what brand wood/wood look vinyl or laminate do u have
Comments (8)i did see the thread on the novalis and i did see the product at lowes yesterday and my husband just has his mind made up that vinyl is going to be a junk product so i guess that is out. i just am confused. i did notice at lowes they have some prety good brand names such as armstrong//bruce etc but does this automatically mean it is a cheaper version of what you would find in a flooring store because it is at lowes? (like for instance) a line they made specifically to be sold only at lowes? the flooring i saw was from 3-9 dollars a sq foot. my sister in law bought her hardwood flooring at menards and they have had it for years with no issues but i just am confused about which products a person should feel okay with taking the plunge with and which are actually going to be a horrible product. i found an ad with a pergo floor that i absolutely loved then i looked up reviews and everyone hated it. i am tired of reading reviews, but i have a huge room to put flooring in, and it will cost alot of money so i was just hoping to hear from many people which floor they used that has been just wonderful or horrible. thanks...See MoreDelima- luxury vinyl wood or porcelain wood look tile?
Comments (15)I was so set on getting wood look tile until my friends told me to check on Luxury Vinyl, and after doing some reading here on GW, I am almost convinced to switch to LVP/LVT. BUT then I see @Season Contreras's beautiful tiles, I am not so sure again! I like the durability of the tiles and that we can drag furniture on it with no problem of scratching it or damaging it, but then I like the LVP for being warm and not so hard on foot. We are doing about 1000 sqft for kitchen plus family room and entry way, (the rest of the house is carpet for bedrooms and a loft). We have two boys and a dog, a pool right outside the family room, got a big yard with lots of dirt, boys will probably bring some of that in all the time.... Houses in my neighborhood worth about a little over a mil (not ours because we bought it a fixer), they mostly are retired so no little kids running around so they mostly use hardwood or engineered wood. We are in our 40s and plan to retire in this house and not selling anytime soon. What should I use, Wood look tiles or Luxury Vinyl? Thank you for your help!...See MoreCan't decide on wood look tile or Luxury vinyl planks for Kitchen!
Comments (25)I brought a sample home from Home Depot and could scratch it with my fingernail. Having said that, we went with a different brand as mentioned in my earlier post. it has a 5 mil wear layer with some kind of cerama beads, (I forget all the lingo I learned when researching ours). and I have never found a scratch on ours. We put it throughout our 1,000 sq ft cabin and also in our TV room at home. We have a 10+ lb. cat that tears around like a maniac. All claws intact. The wear layer is very important. It is recommended to put felt pads on all furniture feet. Makes for very easy moving of chairs etc. anyways. That way you shouldn't have to worry about scratches so long as there is no sand or stones lingering on the floor. But the felt pads would help minimize a problem anyways....See MoreWood look ceramic tile? Other options?
Comments (5)if the water the issue i wouldn't recommend engineered wood. true it withstands moisture better than whole wood but it's still wood. Kitchen-yes. Smth like bathroom or basement-no. I wouldn't. It won't work the same as tile. Or as vinyl Ceramic wood tile can be a great solution if installed properly, and if correlates well with adjacent places. Vinyl plank, I don't know about enough. I know people seem to love it Neither of choices is incredibly expensive, not neccessarily very cheap either. Tile should be very durable choice though, it being tile. So if already to change-I'd go with tile....See MoreHillside House
