What do you think of these chairs? Costco? Could it be?

Hi there.

We are remodeling, and I happened across these good looking chairs, trying to find the Cosco address near here. They are currently on Costco.com with a special for the next week.

I just sent away for a swatch.. but how can these chairs be 2 for $650??? Have any of you had any success with furniture from Costco, or Costco.com?

When you receive the sample of the bicast leather, that its not much different than vinyl. Believe me they are still making a profit at this price.

I saw them at the local CostCo Home ... they weren't what I would pay $300 for. It felt like Naugahyde car seats :(

Bicast Leather: (also called bycast leather) is produced by splitting the thickness of the leather hide, producing a "top grain" and a "split grain" portion. A layer of adhesive is applied to the split grain, then a layer of coloured polyurethane film is rolled onto the surface. This film scratches and marks quite easily, but results in a leather which highly resistant to everyday spills.

That sounds like a lot of fun. Your piece did present some challenges using hardware cloth on a vertical surface without something in the back. Not sure if you have ever watched someone put up a rock column over a wooden framework. Whether they use hardware cloth or diamond mesh there is a barrier placed on the wood and the mesh is close to that so you have something to smoosh ecerything against. That said, diamond mesh will grab hold and keep your mix where you put it even without a barrier. If you have not used diamond mesh/steel mesh, make sure you are wearing leather gloves during cutting, shaping and sewing it together, it is a brute. Lets see PA is three hours later than here, and I get up early so I could actually be there by early afternoon and a bunch of projects could be completed........... Happy casting and creating, Dena

So glad you got them! I've raised chairs almost identical to yours by having the upholsterer make the back cushions a few inches taller. Worked great. He also added a bit of padding to the arms to bulk them up a bit. Good chairs do not have screw on legs, as Pal has said, and Sherrill is( or was) of excellent quality. Matter of fact, I have a Sherrill loveseat from the 70's in my mbr, with much use from kids and dogs, and still in great shape. Do the legs looks as good as they appear in the pics? If not, you can always spiff them up with some restror a finish. Good deal!! p.s. Love the fabric you're planning.

malhgold, how've you been? Haven't seen your posts in awhile. Take those arm chairs near the fireplace and stick them on the ends of the table, just to see the size of a chunky arm chair there. If that looks good, then I would suggest you put something like that at the ends and put smaller chairs on the sides. Do your barstools come in chair height? maybe you could use something like that? I think the RH style really fits with this table. I also think that you could use a great upholstered bench in front of the fireplace-this way you can sit facing the fire or the kitchen. Maybe one of those benches with the ends that come up on both ends so you can lean on the sides. Geez,that's a crazy description....sort of like a couch without the back. What's going on with the tiles?

I like it (come on what did you expect ME to say, "leave" it ; ) I think it would be perfect for a girls room, how much fun will that be finding a frilly, girly fabric, pink fur is what came to my mind, or something outlandish like that, maybe trimmed out with a pink boa!! How disappointing to hear the chairs are not worth the money. Their style looked nice on the website. I never could order furniture without seeing or feeling it... so I appreciate your help.
