We have a quadra-fire free standing stove , the Castile, For our 2nd year. I have had no problems with it at all. This is our 2nd pellet stove, we had an avalon in our other house. I like this one much better. It seems to burn cleaner. I don't have to clean the pellet pipe only once or twice a season and that's with a pellet brush and a shop vac. The unit controls with a thermostat. It doesn't seem to produce as much ash as the Avalon did. The only real maintainence is cleaning the ash out of the pan and vacuuming the interior every other week. I like the burn pot on this stove. It seems to burn more completely. The only thing you have to do between cleanings is scrape the bottom of the burn pot every few days to get rid of the clinkers. If you don't it might not light all the way and smoke. That is easily prevented ,just scrape it with a putty knife and open the bottom and get rid of the clinkers. Otherwise it has been trouble free.

As far as how much the stoves can go down in the "off-season" depends on many factors. If there is a discontinued model, it will go cheaper. On others, it just depends on how motivated the dealer is or maybe there is a stove in a particular color that they want to clear out. Mostly, the off-season is best for scheduling the installation and ordering any parts. That's probably where you will save the most money. Maybe they can even throw in installation for free if they don't discount the stove. There is more bargaining room on everything when they have more time. As far as the motor and boards on the Harman, I only ever replaced one board, but I am convinced the owner of the stove messed it up (there were other issues with this guy). I never replaced a motor or even a blower, even on my own stove. There is fan noise with all pellet stoves and I would always recommend to people that it not be put in the TV room. It seems to bother some people more than others. If you are sensitive to sounds it will bother you. It is kind of like a range hood fan on low all the time.

It ended up being the igniter. But the way the stove went out didn't lead me to believe it was the igniter. I went to the Mom and Pop home center where I bout my stove and the manager knew EVERYTHING about my stove. I purchased a snap disc, of which they had them all in stock, and replaced it with the extra igniter that came with my stove. Such an easy fix, and I have to give my friendly home center much praise because of their knowledge and want to help me solve my problem. We purchased a 7100 in Oct 2012. After 2 months of flawless operation, the fans too quit working all the time. Fireplace Warehouse in Denver sent 2 people up, changed numerous snap discs and it still does not work. I have called the Corp office, poor customer service-6:23 minutes on hold the first time only to be hung up on being transferred to a different unit. 17:46 minutes the second time only to have a recording come on stating the office is now closed. Supposedly, the new area factory rep will call me tomorrow(8/9) and let me know when they will attempt to repair this unit. He stated that the field technician has retired and they no longer have someone available. Again, what great service!
