Abbreviations Help !

Over a year ago, I Posted for Abbreviations but I never finished the list.

Why don't we just write out what we want to say ?????

Here is what I have and Know , so far:

ROFLMAO - OMG -

DARFC - EG -

HTH - LOL -

IOW - POOF -

FYI - POOP -

FGBP - TTT -

IMO - TIA -

PITA -

And one I added " KMA ", You figure it?

If you can add any, I would appreciate it. Even if you don't like me.

I promise not to like you too.

CAC= cactus-- Narrow ray florets that are revolute for the majority of their length SC= Semi-cactus- ray florets are broader at the base & revolute for about 1/2 their length LC= laciniated -those are the ones w/ the frilly split ends FD= Formal Decorative= These are the nice smooth ones-w/ broad ray florets that go right back to the stem ID= Informal Decorative- sim. to the FD but the ray florets have a twist or wave to them BA= ball types Then we get into the others & the Min & all that stuff- you can look at the Colorado dahlia society site or the ADS site to get good picts & descriptions of all the dahlia types

A correction. I said I'd had a lot of college chemistry. I meant to say quite a bit of biology. with enough chemistry to have a basic knowledge of that science. Thanks for your helpful responses. I currently have 3 plastic containers with net cups in a lid. They are in solution 24/7 and I aerate them. The first one has 11 lettuces and because of the extraordinarily cloudy winter this year, they were fairly stagnant. Their growth has exploded this week, however. In a second (deeper) container, I have planted 2 peppers, 1 cuc and 1 pole bean. At the same time that I placed the peppers in solution I planted two of the same variety in pots and placed them next to the hydroponics container. The peppers in the solution are 2-3 times larger than the ones in pots, already. Quite interesting. I have done the same thing with lettuces, cucs, spinach, cilantro, parsley and pole beans (planting some in pots and some in hydroponics). The only plant that hasn't responded well to the hydroponics is the spinach (2). The cilantro has exploded compared to the potted ones. Interesting, though not very scientific results so far. Mark

Sorry, I learned them as 'dear' back in the 60's. Occurred to me later that 'darling' had become the usage... showing my age, I reckon. Also shows that while acronyms have their place, we better be sure we're speaking (writing?) the same jargon else we'll only be talking to ourselves.

When posting and stuff goes pftd hit the back arrow. Sometimes the post is still there. Alternately before hitting send, highlight and copy to your mouse and hold it there in imagination and then hit send. If all disappears you still have the text hanging on your mouse click to paste into the next message box.

Well, Lou, if you know what all of those mean you know a helluva lot more than I do!

I think I have an idea of about what half of those stand for.....

With a very few exceptions I usually do write out what I want to say. It's really not that much extra work.

Lou, AFAIK abbreviations gained popularity with texting. If you've texted on a non-QWERTY phone much you'd know how each keystroke counts. Not only in time, but out of network texts often have a character cap. LOL is so much easier than writing "Gee that's was hysterical!" In regular emails I don't use it all that often, but when IMing or texting I am thankful for every common abbreviation. YMMV.

See, that's why I don't text message, I'd have to remember too many abbreviations. I did get a text message once but I couldn't figure out how to read it so I just deleted it. I never got another one. (grin)

How about EVOO? Oh, never mind, everyone already knows that one.

EVOO, You're right, everyone knows that but I didn't when I first saw it.
Something about Virgins ?????
I Think it was,you get an Extra Virgin with Olive Oil ???
