Have you thought about Meals on Wheels? They are in cities and towns throughout the country.

Here is a link to the organization. There may be specific ways to qualify, I don't know. But they would be a great place to begin. My very elderly and arthritic neighbor gets meals delivered once a day.

Many branches of Meals on Wheels are now contracting with suppliers of frozen meals. Some people love it, and others do not. But frozen may ne an only option in some locales.

Call Elder Help in San Diego. It's similar to the organization that I work for up here in Monterey, and they should be able to give you some guidance.

Try a local cooking school. Many of their recent grads are chefs that cook for individual families. I don't know if they deliver daily but many have diet specific meals. You may also want to try a Dietitian at the local hospital for some ideas.

Best of luck!

Hi, John,

Where exactly do they live in San Diego, i.e. the closest main streets or intersections near their home?

I might be able to help as I may live in the same area. Send me an email, okay?

and Try food Delivery Company . I order from there the food is great. All you have to do is heat the meals in a microwave. I usually pick my meals up, but I'm fairly sure they have a delivery option as well.

Also take a look at this company. I know it appears to be a low calorie plan at first glance, but when I called the company, they definitely can do food for seniors with dietary restrictions. They were very nice on the phone, although we didn't use them as my mother wasn't ready to give up the food control!

Also you might want to check with the Omaha Steak company. They offer many affordable premade or preportioned items shipped to your door that your parents could microwave. My parents did use this company for quite awhile until Dad's low sodium needs became paramount and we had to cook most foods ourselves.

John, I'm sorry I didn't see this sooner.I am a Personal Chef, unfortunately in North Carolina. But this might be something for you to consider. I wish I was closer to help out!! I have a few links to PC Services that might help, here is one:
http://www.pchefnet.com/usa/california_san_diego.htm
I have to find the others. What is nice about a service like this, a PC can focus on exactly what your parents likes and needs are. Good luck and I'll get the other links to you ASAP! Gina

John, here is another link to a Personal Chef Service:

Hi, again, John,

I noticed you just registered yesterday and might not know how to send an email using this site.

Just click on the name of the poster, which is usually highlighted in a different color and is underlined, and that takes you to that person's Member Page.

On that Member Page, if there is an email contact, there will be a link that says Send Me An Email. Click on that and follow the directions/prompts.

BTW, I am just starting out as a personal chef and do have references if you are interested. Thanks!
