I can't say enough about this new product!!

I know I've mentioned this in the "Products" topics, but since I became a guinea pig to this, it worked!

I'm talking about John Frieda's line of "Sheer Blonde: Go Blonder" shampoo, cream rinse, and spray. Not hair spray, just a spray you put on your hair after towel drying it.

It's important to use heat afterwards, it recommends a flat iron or curling iron, but I just use a blow dryer in high.

It's a gradual lightening product. I used to be blonde many years ago, but after I got older it went to dirty dishwater blonde. That yucky medium brown, drab color.

First time I used it, I barely saw a lightening, my dh didn't notice it. I've used it 5 times now, and even my dh can see it, and it's really noticeable! I'm a dark blonde now! lol.

It will keep lightening each time I use it. And then I stop at the color I want.

It's even recommended for people who have their hair colored in a salon because it also touches up the roots.

So if you want some blondeness to your hair, by all means buy this. It's only around $6.00 a bottle and it will last for quite a few shampoos!

Oh, if any of you remember Summer Blonde many many MANY years ago, it works like that. I used it when I was a teen and almost had white hair in the end, and loved it!

This is important. My hair has the tendency to turn orange with some OTC hair products, but not with this stuff.

It also wasn't recommended for my hair color, but I have to disagree with them. :)

jeanwedding, cabbage loves lots of water and of course, cool zone 4 weather. Because cabbage is mostly green, foliage,(no flowers, no fruit)nitrogen can do the trick. I love that lantana, but I've been moving those 3 pots all around the garden this morning! It's almost TOO rich a color among my subdued harmonic colors based on blue undertones! Right now, I have the pots sitting among everything else that I bought yesterday and earlier this week... black & blue salvia (that's a great look with the lantana) purple haze agastache tutti-frutti agastache autumn sage (deep rose) NY asters in deep purple NY asters in deep rose purple coneflowers raspberry wine monarda sedums (pink to maroon) loropetalum that I moved from the outer garden some existing perennial heliotrope existing homestead verbena existing lavender (purple) existing dianthus (cottage pinks) The yellow is a contrasting, rather than harmonic color so it makes a BIG statemen! I think I need to place one at a time along the garden bed, rather than grouping 3 together for a big mass. Sometimes impulse buying can confound us once we get the plants home! LOL

I was in the Marine Corps w/ a woman whose infant daughter was killed by the day care provider. It was horrible. As if that weren't bad enough it was the 2nd baby that died (was killed) in her care. The death of the 2nd child was exactly 1 year to the day following the death of the first child which was also the 2nd anniversary of the death of the PROVIDERS OWN child! And the state actually let her have a license! I do believe that God has a plan for everything I just wish I knew what the plan was/ is in certain situations when something so tragic happens but I believe and have faith anyways. DS1 was in daycare when he was born but I was fortunate in that it was a daycare across the parking lot from where I worked and my job afforded me the opportunity to leave my desk and go over whenever I chose. When DH wanted to participate in the daycare situation more he found a daycare across the field from where he worked. When the Dr. I worked for opened up about his son's suicide it coincided w/ my MIL retiring. Over the years of working w/ his elderly patients 2 recurring themes came up: The biggest regret that that any of them had was not spending enough time w/ their children when they were young. The 2nd was how quickly time goes by and to seize the moment. I radically re-arranged my schedule after that. Boop - I'm the same way. Our children have only been in 1 other persons care - our dear friends who have children the same age. I count my blessings each day and I hate the fact that there are sooooooo many parents that want to be able to do the same thing but simply can't do to their individual situations.

As I run out of space, so too do I run out of patience. There are so many lovely plants out there, so why put up with duds? I mean, ok, a slow grower is one thing. My Buff Beauty is growing so very, very slowly, yet it's healthy and attractive otherwise. Something like that, I can have all the time in world for. My first love was and is peonies, so it's not that I lack patience - I've waited six years for one to bloom and no sign yet, but it'll get there. I've seen other posters talk about this and it's something I used to neither understand or agree with, but I'm coming round to their point of view - there's a difference between a dud rose and a slow rose. It may be inherently dud as a plant, or that individual plant, or just a dud for the specific garden, or place, but it doesn't really matter. A dud will be a dud right from the get go and never really changes. And as my garden slowly matures, I'm seeing it hold true. Because I was broke when I started, I couldn't afford to replace things so I held onto them like grim death, moving them in attempts to find the 'right place, right conditions' that I believed would redeem even the weakest of perfomers. Because I did that I've seen that sometimes, no matter what I might do, a rose is just not going to be suited to my garden and I'm acquiring a degree of tentative confidence about identifying much much earlier which roses they are. There's still room for some sentiment of course - I'm going to be heartbroken when the cooking apple tree dies - despite the fact that it's biennial and the apples aren't that great, and the fact that it has the single largest footprint of any single plant in the garden for relatively low return - I still love it.

It sounds like you like being blonder than you are ...have you ever thought about having your hair professionally highlighted and colored? That could be stunning.

oakley, just want to say: you are soooo lucky not to be gray and HAVE to color your hair!!
i think i've been coloring since my late 30's!!! i'm way past the shampoo,etc lightening stage of my life, but would have no doubt tried this before!!

Bumble, I've had my hair highlighted but I didn't like the maintenance, time (4 hours!) or cost. This does it so gradually..depending on how often you use it, that it looks natural.

Busy, oh I do have some gray in my hair, not a lot though, but now the gray areas look sun streaked.

I have natural highlights in my hair anyway, so this product just lightens them more!

AND...this morning my DIL asked me if I lightened my hair! Loved that she noticed it. lol

Oakley, I recently tried the spray and it did indeed turn me a bit sunnier! I like it - will tide me over until I'm able to (afford to) go to my regular colorist/stylist. She does a fabulous job but she's pricey and my hair grows quickly, meaning that I start to feel drab several weeks before I'm able to sit in her chair and have her work her magic. She gave me lowlights the last time I saw her, but now that warmer weather is here I've been wanting to go back up to my lighter shade. I haven't tried the shampoo/conditioner in this line, but the spray works beautifully. It actually lightened my hair a good deal more than I would have expected, probably because I already color and my hair is porous because of that. It didn't turn my hair that nasty orange hue either, which is great!

I used "Sun-In" back in high school, and it must have been hideously harsh with peroxide. At one point my hair was almost white. Definite over-use, I'd say. ;-)

I never tried Sun In, but I sure did like Summer Blonde!

I'm going to go wash my hair right now, even though it's still clean. LOL

Oakley - I just wanted to thank you for posting this!

After reading your recommendation, I decided to try it and have been using the shampoo and conditioner for a few weeks now -- Wow! Just like my childhood 'summer hair' ;-) Nicely 'more blond' without messing with my natural color variations...

I was just thinking about resurrecting this thread a little while ago! Oakley, are you still using the John Frieda products? I am, and still lovin' everything! I am thrilled that I can spritz my roots and there's just enough lightening effect to blend my highlights as they're growing out. This has definitely helped me save $ since I don't have to rush to the salon as often as before, and my highlights still look very natural. Perhaps (dare I even say this?) even more natural than the ones my stylist has been giving me! The "Sheer Blonde" products provide a lot of depth - not that one dimensional "blah" yellow shade of other products I've tried.

I'm so glad you all like it! Yes, I'm still using it, about once a week. It's several shades lighter, and is sooo soft in color.

Jen,you're right, it doesn't give a one dimensional color. John Frieda's my hero, especially for someone who despises spending hours at a salon!

Not a new product, but new to me. I've been seeing Naked juices for a few years, but only recently tried one ... Mighty Mango. What a flavor rush! Been meaning to add ice for a blended drink, but I've almost finished the bottle. Time to buy more.

My hair is like yours Oak, brownish blonde with a couple small streaks of gray in my crown. I'm in my 50's and still have most of my natural color. I might give that a try because I feel the prices we're charged to have our hair colored are ridiculous. For the most part, I don't mind leaving it as it is, it's just part of life.

My Grandmother used to say, there are two types of people in this world givers and getters. Some get gray hair and others give it. :c)

I can't say enough about this new product!!
