Armstrong Grand Illusions Laminate
Comments (14)FYI I did my own consumer test of the Armstrong Grand Illusions with a sample that I had purchased. I took a 5 lb metal 6"X10" square door stop and dropped it on my sample at 40" height. Yes, it put a very small hole in it from the sharp metal edges on the door stop. BUT, ANY floor would have the same result with that kind of abuse I think. As I had mentioned before, I had also tried to scratch it with my car key with no scratch left behind. I had two samples that I locked together and ran it under running water on the seam for a minute. When I undid the seam, there was no water that got into it. Again, I really appreciate all of your advice, it's a big decision to me what floor will be in my new kitchen. I sure don't want to make an expensive mistake. Comments (64)All the problems mentioned above with Armstrong Grand Illusions, I just went through. I had the roasted grain color. It squeaked, popped, and even chipped from such bad popping. When I say chipped, I mean after 3 days there were chips on corners and edges everywhere. I hadn't even moved into the house yet. This was not caused by the installers because I inspected it after it was done. Called the retailer and Armstrong. Armstrong blamed installation and so retialer (whom did not do the isntall) inspected the work and said it was a great job, I had a level subfloor (new home), dry crawl space and they took the issue up with Armstrong. Additionally, the owner of this retailer told me that he has had a lot of complaints with Armstrong and that his solution was to glue all the butt ends together (partial solution). However, after my claim, he has pulled all Armstrong from his stores and took it upon himself to replace all of my flooring with another company. On another note, while my brother was shopping for laminate at Home Depot, the flooring sales person there also said that they have a lot of product complaints with Armstrong/Bruce and that she recommended Pergo. In any case, I chose to go with Lex Flooring's Cottage line. Anyone familiar with them? The retailer told me they have had zero customer complaints with Lex and after looking at it they have the same handscraped planks as Armstrong does but with ana ctualy locking system that works....See MoreLamett or Armstrong laminate flooring?

Comments (5)I love my Bruce Park Avenue flooring. It's high maintenance, no doubt about it, but worth every minute to me. I did notice what appeared to be scratches or swirls, but I was 1 ft. from the floor. From a standing position the only thing that shows are water spots or dirt tracked in. I love the easy vacuum and clean up with water and vinegar. I dropped a hammer on mine and it didn't even make a mark. I almost passed out from holding my breath though, as it fell. LOL If mine does not hold up as promised by Bruce, they will hear from me. laney, I'm sorry your experience has been so bad. That is disheartening I'm sure....See Moresusanlynn2012
