Bruce Park Avenue Warning

We had Bruce Park Avenue flooring installed in our new house before we moved in in June of Â08. IÂve had Pergo in two homes, and Wilsonart in one home, and would strongly suggest to anyone considering either the Bruce Park Avenue or the Armstrong Grand Illusions to take home samples and test them for durability in your home under your typical living conditions.

My experience with Bruce Park Avenue is that the finish and surface are fragile. If you drop anything on it, it will dent, scratch, or chip. We adopted a dog four months ago, and the finish is very visibly scuffed and scratched anywhere the dogÂs had access. SheÂs not a brute, and her toenails are trimmed, but any dirt under anyoneÂs feet, including the dogÂs will scratch this floor.

In a previous home, we had Pergo in the hallway leading to the dog door. Over the years, at times we had three dogs living in the house at once. These dogs all weighed over 60 lbs., and for the first year, we had no landscaping in the back yard, so every trip in and out of the dog door was with dirt packed doggy feet. The current owner is removing that old Pergo, 12 years later, and itÂs flawless, without scratches, dents, or scuffs.

In just one year with two adults, plus four months with two adults and one dog, the Bruce Park Avenue looks horrible, and we canÂt wait to be able to afford to replace it.

Your experience may be different, but if youÂre considering this flooring, do yourself the favor of testing some samples for durability. For us, it was a big letdown to find out this so called premium flooring couldnÂt stand up to even the light use from two adults that take their shoes off when they come in the house!
