Whos has this mac & cheese recipe???

I apologize but someone here gave me a Mac & Cheese recipe I of course cant find it...It has Evap Milk,Sour Cream,Dry mustard....It was delicious when I made it and would love to have it again...any help is appreciated

Here is my version of Cook's Illustrated - I omitted the bread crumbs because I'm lazy. Its our dinner tonight, matter of fact! I think subbing evaporated milk for fresh is a big improvement for any M&C recipe.

Cooks Illustrated Stovetop Macaroni and Cheese
Ingredients
12 oz Canned evaporated milk
2 lg Eggs
1/4 ts Hot red pepper sauce
2 ts Salt
1/4 ts Ground black pepper
1 ts Dry mustard, dissolved in:
1 ts Water
1/2 lb Elbow macaroni
4 TB or 1/4 cup Unsalted butter
12 oz Sharp Wisconsin cheddar*, (or any cheese - Monterey Jack, etc., or a mix)

Preparation

Mix eggs, 1 cup of the evaporated milk, pepper sauce, 1/2 teaspoon of the salt, pepper and mustard mixture in small bowl. Set aside.

Heat 2 quarts water to boil in large heavy-bottomed saucepan or Dutch oven. Add 1-1/2 teaspoons of the salt and macaroni; cook until almost tender, but still a little firm to the bite. Drain and return to pan over low heat.
Add butter; toss to melt.

Pour egg mixture over buttered noodles along with three-quarters of the cheese; stir until thoroughly combined and cheese starts to melt. Gradually add remaining milk and cheese, stirring constantly until mixture is hot and creamy, about 5 minutes. Serve immediately.

Susie, I made this recipe last month for the first time, though I cut it out of the paper about two years ago. It's now my very favorite macaroni & cheese. It's very rich & feeds a lot. I gave some to two others, who are still talking about it. It keeps well - doesn't break down & get watery. It is SO good! Joan's on Third is a popular restaurant in Los Angeles. Joan's on Third Macaroni and Cheese 10 - 12 servings 1 pound pasta (elbow macaroni, fusilli, or any shape desired) 2 ounces butter 3 3/4 cups whole milk 6 ounces ricotta or small curd cottage cheese 3 ounces cream cheese 12 ounces Monterey jack, shredded 12 ounces Gouda, shredded, plus 8 ounces Salt and freshly ground black pepper Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Cook pasta in large pot of boiling, salted water until just tender. Drain well. Add butter, milk, ricotta, cream cheese, Monterey jack, and 12 ounces of the Gouda to the warm pasta. Season with salt and pepper. Gently mix everything together, leaving some chunks of cheese visible. Pour the mixture into 9 by 11-inch baking pan. Top with the remaining 8 ounces of Gouda. Bake until beautifully golden, 30 to 40 minutes. Serve hot or room temperature.

This recipe from KFrame is very good and has had lots of rave reviews over on the Cooking Forum. KFrame's Mac and Cheese (an Alton Brown recipe) 1/2 pound elbow macaroni 3 tablespoons butter 3 tablespoons flour 1/2 teaspoon of cayanne pepper 1 tablespoon powdered mustard ( I use a 1/2 TBSP) 3 cups milk 1/2 cup yellow onion, finely diced 3 or 4 cloves of garlic, smashed or diced fine 1 bay leaf 1/2 teaspoon paprika 1 large egg, light beaten 12 ounces sharp cheddar, shredded 6 to 8 strips of bacon, fried crisp, drained, and crumbled 1 teaspoon kosher salt Fresh black pepper Topping: 3 tablespoons butter 1 cup panko bread crumbs Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a large pot of boiling, salted water cook the pasta to al dente. While the pasta is cooking, in a separate pot, melt the butter and let it foam out. Add the onion and garlic with a pinch of kosher salt and lightly sautee until they start to turn carmel colored and soft. Whisk in the flour and mustard and keep it moving for about five minutes. Make sure it's free of lumps. Stir in the milk, onion, bay leaf, cayanne pepper, and paprika. Simmer for ten minutes and remove the bay leaf. Temper in the egg. Stir in 3/4 of the cheese and the bacon. Season with salt and pepper. Fold the macaroni into the mix and pour into a 2-quart casserole dish. Top with remaining cheese. Melt the butter in a saute pan and toss the bread crumbs to coat. Top the macaroni with the bread crumbs. Bake for 30 minutes. Remove from oven and rest for five minutes before serving.

My homemade mac and cheese.My kids put it first on the list for Thanksgiving dinner.LOL Mac and Cheese 1 stick salted butter 2 T.flour 1 1/2 C. shredded mild Cheddar cheese 1 1/2 C. shredded Monterrey jack cheese 1 tsp. black pepper (or to taste) I don't add salt because the pasta is cooked in salted water,butter is salted and cheese is salty.You may prefer to add salt but should taste first to be sure it needs it. Mix together 1/2 C.of both cheeses for topping. About 6 cups pasta cooked al dente in salted water and drained well.You can use elbow macaroni,spirals,whatever you like.I use elbow because it is traditional. Melt butter in a large sauce pan then add the flour and pepper.Stir until well blended and bubbly.About 5 min.To this mixture whisk in the half and half.Heat on low heat until just simmering.Add the cheese,stirring constantly with a whisk until the cheese is melted and mixture is smooth.Remove from heat.Put the macaroni in a large bowl and pour the cheese mixture over it and stir until well mixed.Spray a large casserole with non stick cooking spray or coat with butter.Pour half the mixture into the casserole and top with 1/2 C. reserved cheeses.Pour the rest of the mixture in and top with remainder of cheese.Bake in a 350 degree oven for about 25-30 min until bubbly and cheese is lightly brown.

I have to add that even though I usually make the recipe I posted above, i grew up with the boxed stuff. And there are times, dark,cold, gloomy times,where nothing but the boxed stuff will hit the spot. It all has its place. Oh, and I think the generic stuff in the box is creamier and cheesier than kraft. Any generic one seems to fit that bill. I do love the blue box though as well. As I said, it all has a place.

I don't have that one but I have one from The White House Family Cookbook. It's very easy and I think very good. The White House chef at the time said it was Ronald Reagan's favorite meal. If you're interested in it, let me know. It is baked in the oven, but you do not need to make a roux.

Here's the one I use:

CONNIEÂS BAKED MACARONI AND CHEESE

2 cups uncooked elbow macaroni
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup flour
1-3/4 cup milk
1 cup sour cream
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
1/2 tsp. dry mustard
2 cups (8 oz.) grated Sharp Cheddar cheese, divided

Preheat oven to 350Â° F. Cook macaroni in salted boiling water according to pkg. directions. Drain and rinse with cold water. Pour into a 2-quart baking dish.

In a saucepan, melt butter and stir in flour. Cook and stir for one minute. Gradually stir in milk, add sour cream, Parmesan cheese, salt/pepper and mustard. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring constantly, until sauce bubbles and thickens. Stir in half of the Cheddar cheese until melted.

Toss macaroni with remaining Cheddar cheese. Pour sauce over macaroni and mix thoroughly. Bake for 1 hour, uncovered; or until bubbly and brown.
