Grill Hook Up form Sm. LP to Large LP
Comments (3)Thanks for the quick response. After posting my initial message, I called my local gas company and explained what I had done. They told me that I needed to remove the regulator on the grill. They cited the reason as the regulator that is currently on the large Prop. tank will regulate the flow of gas to the grill. They mentioned that if I left the regulator on the grill, that the flow of gas would be less than needed to operate the grill correctly. Does this sound like it is correct to you? Thanks again. -Scopas...See MorePeterson Gas Valve Will Not Work Properly
Comments (0)I have a set of vented Peterson logs in my fireplace (propane). They were installed when I purchased the house six years ago. When I used them last winter, they worked fine and last spring I turned the safety switch off in the floor. When I tried to turn them on this winter they will not light or work properly. I have a single bar burner with the valving on the right side; I also have a remote control for the unit. When I attempted to light them, I held in rotary knob and turned it clockwise and held it for 30 seconds then released it, turned it back to light the pilot (I have to use a match for my type). The pilot lit like normal, but the problem lies with the rotary knob and the toggle switch. I have a remote switch for the remote (yes, fresh batteries) and it SHOULD override the toggle switch. When I turned the knob to the "pilot" "on" position, the flame burned on high no matter what I did. The remote sensor did not turn the flame on or off (I heard it click in the main valve when I turned it in the "on" position; I disconnected the remote sensor and tried to use the toggle switch on the unit and it did not work, no matter "on" or "off" the flame burnt. If I turned the knob to the off position, I had a pilot light only. Basically, the "pilot" knob controlled the flame, in the "off" position, I had the pilot only; in the "on" position, I had the full flame and no way to control it. Is my toggle switch bad and how do I test it? Any ideas......TIA!!!...See Moregas logs make hissing noise
Comments (2)Yes, I am burning ceramic logs with natural gas. They are ventless, so I do not need an open damper. I've been told I should put a plate over the chimney to stop downdraft and/or critters & birds from nesting in it as the chimney serves no purpose. Also, it has no damper - its a straight shot to the great outdoors. The sound it is making reminds me of a gas grill when you turn the propane tank on. I think you are right I need to have someone look at it. Unfortunately, I had someone who could "get you the logs and install them" do the work. Not exactly a real dealer....See MoreUnhappy with my vented gas logs
Comments (2)I agree with haus_proud that you should have a tech from a gas supplier look at the fireplace first. You used the term "vented insert" which would indicate the logs sit in a metal box inserted into a masonry fireplace previously designed to burn wood. I suspect the term "insert" does not apply. There may be several options for you to provide heat to this area: Keep the logset as is for ambiance, and install a Rinnai directvent high efficiency wall furnace on an outside wall, maybe under the window, for primary heat. Have a sealed combustion, directvent fireplace insert installed in the fireplace with 2 liners running to the top. This is the more expensive option, but will give the look of a small fireplace with mid- efficiency heat output...not designed for primary heat. 3) If you have sufficient primary heat, replace the HeatNGlo with a Peterson G10 Vented/Ventfree logset. With the damper open it will perform as you have now, for looks. But when you need heat you can safely and legally, in most cases, close the damper and 100% of the heat, and fumes will roll into the room. Before going this route, you should absolutely check with the local gas supplier, and consider if you have compromised immunity or respiratory ailments....See MoreHeyPearly
