I have seen several bourse buds and shoots on my Cortland apple tree. In my experience, these fattened buds called bourse buds are basically fruit buds that have also chosen to shoot out the next season, so they are super fat. In other words, next spring they will flower, and will also send out one or more shoots with many leaf buds plus another fruit bud at the tip of the bourse shoot. I figured I was getting this odd behavior on my Cortland because it is a tip-bearing variety, but I guess it can happen on all sorts of apples, and apparently happens a lot more on pears based on things I have read. The problem might be that no one worries too much about the foliage, judging standards are all about blooms. One that might meet your criteria is Potinara Hoko Gem 'Freckles'. Certainly does re. the foliage, but some spots might rule it out. Here is a pic. of a very desirable species with No pseudobulbs. But alas the colour is not as required.

Thanks, everyone. We have Chicago Peace, Fragrant Cloud and Peter Mayle, and love them, though PM needs more time, I guess, to bloom more (2 yo own-root), and Chicago Peace just doesn't bloom much. Fragrant Cloud blooms all the time! For some reason, I pictured Frederic Mistral as almost ATTRACTING thrips/rain damage....guess I'm wrong? I was thinking you'd say Valencia...it looks GORGEOUS and I hear so much about it!! I somehow knew someone might say "Buxom Beauty" (though I thought I read that it shattered quickly?) and "Dolly Parton" LOL "Voluptuous" sounds nice. I also don't understand what it is about Tiffany that everyone raves about....I can barely smell her.
