Hi At this time i am cancer free ,at least according to my last tests lol Ofcourse will have to keep up tests for the rest of my life but hopefully MUCH longer between them?? Have some "suspicious " areas but not receiving any treatments at this time . i had a series of treatments called "Cyberknife" which have proven to be very effective . This was done locally and I feel I got excellent treatment. Results seem to indicate that . This involves very high radiation rather than surgery which means I can't have more of this type and will not have chemo though so far there has been no need . Both of my brothers and both parents died of cancer so i seem to be very lucky?? lol Thanks for the good wishes !!! gary

My locale is not in the path of most natural disasters so in my lifetime, I haven't had to deal with them the way others have (Thank God!, I don't take it lightly or want to devalue the contributions of so many) I did stockpile for y2k and still have cans of seeds in the basement. If I lived in an area known for extremes, Oklahoma or the beach anywhere, for instance, no question about needing ample emergency supplies. We live on 5 acres bordering a creek so if the aliens attack, we can hunker down and plant those y2k seeds. For your amusement: for y2k, I stockpiled olive oil, chocolate, coffee, ibuprofen and wheat. (with a few other necessities-cash- thrown in).

What about when its too late to not get a pet? I have one and he was recently diagnosed with epilepsy, this was after $3000 worth of test and that was our last bit of money. now he's getting bad seizures and we had to do emergency vet care that we knew we couldn't afford and we are now another $600 in the hole and this is just the beginning. we can't afford this. We love our dog and are broken up over this and we don't know what to do. we are worried we won't be able to find someone to take him from us that can care for him properly and we know that we can no longer care for him properly. So far we can't find anyone to take him and if we keep him that means when he has more problems or more seizures since the medicine doesn't completely keep them from happening it just controls them to make them less severe, so when he does have them we can't afford to take him in to the hospital when he has more than 4 in a day (he has cluster seizures). We are very torn as to what to do, it seems as though euthanizing him may an option because what kind of life is that if he needs medical attention we can't give him because we don't have the money.

Not sure, Marie, but I haven't heard of them. We have a number of retirement homed, with 24-hour staff, but they are rather expensive. Dad lived in a senoioors' facility where he had a small apt., could later move to a room and walk to dining room, then to a room where the staff delivered meals. It was a subsidized situation, I think - in Regina, Sask. ole joyful
