Do you bike ride?
Comments (22)Good bike shops also sometimes have nice bikes that people have traded in when they upgrade. The staff goes over them to make sure everything works properly, and sell them for a very reduced price. So you might not get the exact color you want - you could always have it painted at an auto body shop (or bust out the spray paint) if it meant that much to you. Also, you can call the local police department and ask if they have a bike auction. Many jurisdictions auction off stolen bikes that were never reclaimed by their owners, with the money going to a police charity (like college scholarships for children of officers killed or disabled in the line of duty). A triathlete I know got a $1k+ racing bike for under $100 at a police auction... he was about the only one who knew what it was and snatched it up. All it needed was new tires from sitting in storage for months. I miss riding a bike, but my balance is shot. There are stabilizer wheels for adult bikes but I think they'd just look too goofy. My PT says adult trikes tend to be tippy....See MoreWoul;d walking or bike riding be better for You???
Comments (10)I was ill for years, lost a lot of weight and a lot of muscle mass. At one point, my knees were so weak that I had to crawl up the stairs. I found some gentle knee exercises that I did to strengthen my knees (actually, my thigh muscles) before I ever started working out. This website is about what I did. Now that my knees are stronger, I do both the treadmill and the recumbant bike, plus the Nautilus circuit. All of them seem to be working, because I can now easily go up and down stairs. Thanks, and good luck! Here is a link that might be useful: Gentle knee exercises...See More30-mile bike ride for our 12-year-old! (1 pic)
Comments (13)Moni, my daughter and her family are avid cyclists--and always well equipped! :-) Maire, I checked the website for the ride. There were five options for the event: 4 miles, 15, 32, 46, and 65. Nothing was mentioned about hills for the 32-mile route. The 46-mile course had 1800' of climbing, and the 65-miler was described as having an additional 3100' of climbing in 40 miles, plus "many hills to climb on this route." At least it was a cool day....See MoreMy grandson Ross McGarity...Texas 4000 bike ride
Comments (14)There are several groups and they are taking different routes. He originally was on the Rocky Mountain group but they asked him to switch to the Ozark Mountain group. His mother and step dad have rented a house in Alaska and will be there when they finish the ride to celebrate with all of them....See More- 19 years ago
