I love the Celestial tea offerings! They all taste SO good!

And, although it's not GREEN tea, I am addicted to Constant Comment decaf tea!

I buy gunpowder green tea from a local tea merchant. It's very flavorful. Nothing at all like the green tea I buy in bags at the grocery store which taste like floor sweepings in comparison to whole tea leaves.

When I put the pics up, I didn't realise that they were for a wish list. We all run out of room, that is why Proslaeliocattleya Mae Bly is no longer in my possession. It is very vigorous, makes lots of roots and the space it took up is now occupied by a couple of non-space hogs. Cym. Dag 'Dorothy' was registered in 1964 and may only be available in Australia via divisions. Some Cattleyas only have perfume on sunny days. And finally, Grammatophyllum scriptum "A large to giant sized, hot growing epiphyte" quoting a bit from Jay's Species site. There was one awarded in Northern Territory, Australia ages ago. The Judging panel visited the orchid. nuff said.

I like 'J.E. Murphy's Pink Tea' (which may be 'Mme. Emilie Charrin'). It has a perfectly healthy and vigorous plant, good leaves, and a flower of a decided pink color with a form which is both pretty and distinctive. Recommended. My 'Second Street Tea' is taking its sweet time to make anything of itself; but early this year, it started to show some interest in growing, so we'll see. The plant is not yet large enough for me to trust how representative the flowers it has are; but, as of yet, they're a warm light pink, and full of petals. 'Arcadia Louisiana Tea' is wonderfully happy in my garden--healthy, vigorous, bloomy, and beautiful. The flower color is essentially a chalky pink, which doesn't sound as attractive as it is. The bush is about six and a half feet tall, and thickly foliaged. It would dominate that area of the garden if it weren't for an extremely vigorous 'Faberge', which is just as tall, and, by its orange color, distracts from 'Arcadia Louisiana Tea'. I think 'Faberge' is an outstanding rose, indeed one of the very best; but I wish I had planted it elsewhere (it wasn't supposed to be so tall!). But no way am I moving a big, healthy, happy rose... Like 'Second Street Tea', my 'Florence Bowers' is a little slow getting started; but, that said, it did put out this year a good, if slender, six-foot cane, more like one would expect of a climber than of a regular Tea. The plant is young, so I can't really say much about the flowers; but it seems to bloom in flushes rather than anything like continuously.

This tomatoe amazed me all season. It started out slow, but was one my first ripe. By midseason it was unstoppable, and its now still my most productive. They are beautiful striped lime and yellow with a kidney bean shape, texture is excellent, and flavor and meatiness perfecto. My other most productive new tom this year was black prince, but they are a bit seedy/watery. ****** I know the variety German Johnson and I know the variety Green, but I've not heard of a variety called German Johnson Green. Could you please say a bit more about it, where it originated from and did you grow it from seeds, if so what was the source, or did you buy a plant? It is a typical green when ripe inside? What isn't typical is the kidney bean shape I see you're describing it as. ( smile) How stable is it genetically or is that not yet known, b'c it sounds like it's a deliberate or accidental cross between two varieties, with at least one parent being a green. Carolyn

I had to add my two cent to this post.. I am crazy about spinach but my favorite way to cook spinach is in an omelet with cheese..More spinach than egg and cheese though. :-) yummy!

NHSuzanne - "floor sweepings" ... LOL what a great term! Personally, I haven't found a green tea I loved. In fact, I have to empty my pantry 'tea bag area' and start again. I've spent a small fortune on my quest for the best green tea. Settling on arizona pre-made for now.

You really should try to find a local tea merchant and sample the teas. They are usually very helpful. Loose tea takes a bit more work but it's not a problem when you have a tea ball, etc. I have even mastered making a pitcher of green tea for ice tea. I really like the gunpowder green the best although there are several green teas, sans the artificial flavoring of the bagged versions, to sample.

Suzanne, your right. We have lots of trendy "tea shoppes" here (you know, ladies luncheon teas with gloves and all, hummmm - nice atmosphere) Anyway, not so many tea merchants - would Starbucks or Barnies be appropriate? I really like loose tea, prepared in japanese restaurants it is so traditional and tastes sooo good.

You can try Starbucks but I don't know if they have a good selection. I do know that most specialty coffee companies, like Starbucks, usually carry tea as well. So if you don't have a tea house try the coffee places around I am sure you find some good teas too.
