It is probably you are 100% right on all of the points in your recent post. I'll just add either my 2 cents worth or toss a bit of popcorn or eventually vermicompostable non salted peanut shells from the the peanut gallery. Powdered egg shells are what we do not want to breath when someone uses a coffee grinder or spice grinder on the egg shells. Maybe grinders grind the shells into little flake size pieces. Maybe those grind the shells into breatheable dust. I do not know. Maybe blending egg shells in liquid or quickly crushing in newspaper with a rolling pin is best. I agree egg shells are good in a worm bin from dust size to whole and any size in between. Exceptions made for those who do not like how egg shells look in vermicompost. I can agree the worms, similar to snakes, might need something with specific abilities to help with cocoon removal. I do not know what those specific things are or if egg shells have that. I do not know if egg shells provide grit for worms to digest. I do not know if worms need grit to digest. Yes worms have a gizzard type digestion system. Chickens need grit. I am not sure worms need grit. One poster here seemed to have done a test and some type of grit addition seemed to have done something positive. Archives somewhere. I'm just not yet on board with worms needing grit or with egg shells being grit. I have egg shells and adding them to the bin, whole, crushed and blenderized is done at various times. Again, I hate to not yet view the facts as you do, CarlosDanger. And I am probably wrong and could be convinced by facts the other way. I just have not bumped into those yet. I sort of disagree that worms have poorly-designed food processing systems. I do not think worms would be better off having ears, eyes, or teeth. All the better to hear, see and eat me with, my dear. I think worms fit into a system and in that system they are perfectly designed for their part in the system, poor digestion or not. Somebody, somewhere thought not having teeth was OK and called worms the "intestines of the earth". Maybe it is OK to not masticate ones food if one is an worm. Again I hate to disagree with you.

The best juicer on the market, by far, is the Breville Juice Fountain Elite 800JEXL. I've had it for two years and have had no issues with it whatsoever. It juices everything FAST and is beautifully designed and engineered. The feed tube is large and will accommodate whole apples, oranges, and 4-6 carrots at a time depending on size. Stay away from those plastic Juiceman-type products, and especially stay away from masticating juicers such as Champion and Omega. The feed tubes are so small, and the juicer action so slow, that it will take you an hour to juice enough for four people. In fact, I have an Omega 8005 in stainless if anyone wants it -- worst juicer I ever bought, unless you like standing in front of your juicer for an entire afternoon while you spoon feed it pieces of fruit that you've had to chop up into small pieces because the feed tube is literally the diameter of a carrot. I can't tell you anything about juicing with a Champion but you can make delicious nut butters with it. I roast almonds, cashews, walnuts, etc and run them through. Also another thing we like it for is making frozen fruit "ice cream". We freeze banana chunks and runthem through alternating with chunks of other frozen fruit for a creamy, sweet fruity treat. If you use frozen fruits without the frozen bananas, you get aslushy, icy product that is good but the bananas make it creamy. We also like to add a few pecans and make "butter pecan ice cream". I demonstrate this ice cream at vegan cooking classes that I've held and most folks have a hard time believing it's only frozen fruit.

Raw vegan has amazing health benefits but I find it really difficult to stick with long term. I've tried it and I strive for it but I've never made it more than a few weeks before I eat something cooked. But even a week showed me a profound difference. I had SO much energy, and it was clean energy, not jittery. I was able to stay more focused at work and didn't feel sluggish after meals. My skin cleared up and I dropped 10 pounds in a week and I didn't gain it back afterward. I think the role of nutrition in our society is horribly downplayed. I'm not particularly religious but I believe the earth is intelligently designed to support all life to not only survive but thrive and if we use it as we should, a lot of the rampant diseases and health problems would disappear. Look at scurvy, which killed so many people and is caused by a deficiency of a vitamin that is contained in so many fruits and vegetables. It's a deadly situation that can easily be treated by eating oranges. And I don't think it's limited to just one health condition. These things exist to nourish our bodies and protect them from damage and disease and most people don't eat nearly enough. I know some people where their only vegetables of the day is the lettuce on their cheeseburger and they wonder why they have so many health problems. Juicing is an awesome way to consume many times more produce than you would eat whole.
