Teresa_mn have you seen any canned Ackee?

I am going to twin cities in a week to Costco and Trader Joes 1st time. I wanted to know if you know of any store than sells canned Ackees I want to make salt cod and Ackees. The curried chicken I want to make next week got me thinking about all the Caribbean foods I love and have not made for a long time. Oh some frozen Conch for Conch chowder or salt beef and beans with spinners. That would be to much to hope for, thanks for any help. Patty

I've never noticed whether either store has them. I most likely will be in both stores this weekend and will ask. I'll let you know!

If you put the right words in google search you find what your looking for. I put in global groceries in twin cities and there it was. Now I want to go to all of them. When DH was alive we traveled a lot my great pleasure was to check out small ethnic or local grocery stores. That is how I ended up with a lot of odd ingredients in my pantry I have use some of them, I can make room for some new stuff. I will most likely not get to any this trip a cast on my leg will slow me down. Who knew that there were that many different ethnic stores in Minnesota. Thanks Patty

We just bought 2 of these at Mesquite Valley Growers here in Tucson. We're wanting to soften a block wall in our backyard and went after the yellow Tombstone rose but this "tequila shooter' miniature climber caught our fancy. It's semi-deciduous, hardy to 10 degrees and has orange to red flowers. Oh and it's suppose to be fragrant too. I can't find anything about it on the net. Are any of you gardeners out there familiar with this rose?

Patty and Betsy, I believe from the description it would be a bi-color rather than a bi-tone. A bi-colored dl has sepals and petals that are in different color families. Here's a photo of a bi-colored one in my garden, identified recently as Magic Dawn. Here is an example of a bi-tone dl, see how the sepals and petals are different but in the same color family? Jan

For anyone who's still reading, I'm pretty sure this is what I'm going to get. Sorry, have to post 3 separate pics. The shade color on the island fixture and sconces will be the same (beigey linen shown on the first pic) and all metal finishes will be the same (same finish as first pic, Dark Smoke).

murfy - Thanks! I love it, too, and basically stole it, so that's why it wasn't sold off with the bulk of our A&C things when we moved. Unfortunately, the current abode is an MCM home with lots of glass. L O T S of glass. Like, in the 19' x 50' great room that includes the kitchen, DR, LR and garden, there is exactly 30' of wall available for furniture placement. The rest of it has to float or be against glass. The poor costumer is stuck in an office for right now.

Those lyrics are readily identifiable by those of (ahem) a certain age. I'm giving my age away by saying it was my favorite song when I was 4 years old.
