Good Monday all,

I hope everyone had a good weekend.

Amy, it was good to see your post. I hope you will be able to log on an share when you can. Time flies for sure.

BJ, thanks for sharing Amy's post.

We had a good weekend. Saturday was beautiful for riding. Yesterday was cloudy and cold. Still it was nice to be home with nothing that HAD to be done.

Good morning!

Just got in from a great walk. Low humidity makes it so nice.

Suzanne, loved your picture and so glad to see Sweet Pea up and going strong.

We went to New Orleans with friends for the weekend. Ole Miss was playing Tulane at the Superdome. We stayed at the Ritz-Carlton which was so beautiful. Saw lots of old friends. Some had not seen me since I lost my weight, so that made it even more fun. Made me even more determined to stay with it. We did a lot of walking/shopping. Ate shrimp remoulade at the Bon Ton. I ordered the small portion, so don't feel like I did too badly. But the next day I had chargrilled oysters with melted butter and parmesan cheese at Drago's (they taste like steak they are so good), with good crusty French bread to dip in the butter sauce. THEN for dinner one night I had veal bolognese at Maximo's. Thank goodness it was just a weekend - ha! Ivamae, it will be hard to weigh in on Wednesay, but at least I'll know where the pounds came from!

Happy MONDAY!

The cruise was great and I'm busy catching up with e:mails and other issues at work. I have not lost weight, but I did not gain an ounce while on that ship. Did lots of walking and eating smaller portions. I tried everything, but did not eat all of everything, so I'm OK.

Raeanne, I think I have some time in May 2011 free (LOL!), so I need to see what this Girlfriends stuff is all about!

Tikanis, I'm not sure about early October, as DH and I wanted to make a run to NC to check on the house. I'll let you know if I can make it out to see you.

BJ, you are amazing!

Maddie, hope all is well with your project.

Marci, you look great out there in the water. Keep your spirits up in work, I think about you often during the school day hours.

Amy, thanks for checking in with us. Sorry that you and Heather are not feeling well. Sending you both some special thoughts.

Suzanne, you and SP always look so relaxed together. Thanks for sharing your special moments.

A couple of notes because the rest is going to be rather long and involved: Lynda, I have the Vitex marked for you and in your baggie! And thank you for the marigolds! They will be very interesting with my others! Dessie I would be more than happy to receive your little helper's seed packets! I think it's great! Wendy Try some Chai Spice tea, it works wonders in helping clear up colds and flu. I always add a dollop of honey to help sooth the throat. It's a staple in our house and really does help. Alright, here is my take on this.. I can understand how many were hoping that the two swaps would not coincide, but, we all knew there was a fair chance of that happening. For myself, I know that I continued to update my list, even well after Patty's swap's mailing deadline. I did my updates using the same method we did for Patty's swap- using an updated date. Even had I not, I knew there was a good chance the two swaps would overlap. I joined this one knowing full well- according to the guidelines posted for it- that I may NOT receive as many as I sent in. That I would receive as many as were sent in FOR me, up to five packets of the SAME item. I recall there being some issue with this and a member who became very rude in their comments about this fact. Yes, my package from the What's Left swap is in the second batch to go out. No, I did not keep strict record of what I sent to those who were in the What's Left swap. I did keep better records of what I'm sending for this swap. I also know that a lot of people will be sending in baggies of seeds marked as extras- not dedicated for anyone, but to add in when it's seen those items are on someone's list. No, these may not be some of the rarer or more exclusively wanted items on someone's list. But if someone has some of those rarer or more specific items to share, I'm sure they would have put them into your baggie before they mailed. So, I don't see that anyone would be missing out on anything. The only way I could see having updated one's list further as complicating Patty's swap would be if someone had removed things from their list. Updating and adding items would not have conflicted. Because if there were any extras of what you were wanting, Patty would have included them. So, I guess I'm not really understanding how there is such a need to update the lists just because one is in both swaps. If I receive duplicates, wonderful! Because the things on my list are things I want! If I don't receive something on my list, then no one had it to share. If I receive so many of something that I can't plant it all, then I can bless someone else by offering it up for a trade. So, perhaps I'm being dense here, but how would one not receive something sent in specifically for them (up to FIVE packets of the same item!) that was on their wants list in this swap? Everyone has the chance to see your wants as posted and you have had the option to add to that list, as many including myself have this whole time. The only thing I could really see the two swaps happening almost simultaneously possibly affecting would be one's have's list. I'm sorry, I don't mean to upset or offend anyone. I'm just honestly trying to understand why this is such an issue. So please don't take this as meaning to offend or as pointed to anyone in particular. This is just me trying to understand why so many are upset about this. If you prefer to email me privately and help me understand it, I would be pleased with that and please do! Perhaps there are aspects and issues with this that I'm not readily seeing and should consider. I don't want to keep the thread off track by my question becoming a debate here. Perhaps there can be some adjustments of dates if this swap happens in the late summer or again next winter, but for this year it is as it is and personally, I'm really enjoying it! Nancy, I hope you don't decide to drop out, because I know that I should have at least a couple of things from your list, perhaps more. But I'll respect your choice and be your Garden Buddy either way :) Fran, you have a real job ahead of you and I don't know how those like you and Patty do it! Leave me hosting my "pair em up and let em go" or true RR type swaps! I think those of you that host this kind of swap are awesome! Angela, you have been a wonderful help to Fran and all of us in this swap! I know the time it can take to code pages like that, though updates are easier once the initial work is done, and I want to say THANK YOU for the time and work you are putting in on this swap for everyone's benefit! Good morning from drizzly, cooler SE Texas! I just finished my oatmeal and having the last few sips of coffee before getting ready to go work out. This makes 8 days of doing it, with only Sunday off. I've already lost a few 10ths of my BMI! They have this little gizmo there that measures it, and I tried it yesterday, a week after the first time, and was pleased to see that 7 days of exercise made some difference. Suzanne, I never did try the polenta last weekend because I have 3 rolls of it in the fridge and didn't want to waste it yet. But, I'm definitely going to try it in a few weeks. I'm just not eating that much of it anymore, which is probably good. I'm no good at naming rides today, but I think that my favorite one I read from y'all has to be BJ's: The Kharma Carousel: what comes around, goes around. :) Patti, I've never heard of, much less been to a Rosa's. Are y'all going there while you're in Texas? I miss freely dining at a Mexican restaurant now - I always order fajita salads without sour cream and cheese. No chips. :( I'm not shopping anymore for at least a month because I'm just not losing enough to make a huge difference in what I still have to wear to places other than the fitness center. I am wearing t-shirts I couldn't wear before. When I go to Dallas at the end of May, I will break down and buy a few nicer things, but that's it. It's nice seeing so many posting these days. I was so tired and a little sore yesterday, so I just rested and didn't do anything else. Some days I just don't have anything to say. I'm always glad that y'all do though! LOL

Today is an absolutely beautiful day!! Not a cloud in the sky. There is a nice breeze and the temps are in the 60s. Hard to believe that just yesterday, there was water, water and more water everywhere. I ran errands today and saw lots of remnants of the flooding. Gravel and mud on roads, water still laying in low spots, creeks running over their banks, and lots of hillsides with furrows and water still running down them. But we are supposed to have nothing but sunshine for the next 5 days, so hopefully everything will dry up. Our electricity did go out last night for 2 1/2 hours, but I curled up with some candles and some crossword puzzles and passed the time. All I had were scented candles though, and I was burning 3 different scents upstairs and DH was burning a 4th scent downstairs. The combination made a rather unique odor though and I was getting slightly nauseous by the end of the night! LOL QOD - Once. I had just graduated college and was working as a store manager in the mall (I majored in Fashion Merchandising). The district manager and I didn't see eye to eye on something and I mouthed off to her. I was subsequently let go (big surprise - lol), but maintained that it wasn't my fault. Of course, the adult in me now knows that I was completely wrong and had every right to be fired, but my pride wouldn't let me admit that then. I have been doing a program by Prevention Magazine called, Firm Up in 3 Weeks. I have walked 20 out of the last 21 days and either lifted weights or done Pilates 20 of those 21 days. I have eaten sensibly, snacked on healthy foods and even splurged occasionally on "Indulgent Treats", and I can say I never felt deprived or hungry. I slipped into a pair of jeans today without using a shoe horn and I feel great. The program was designed to be done for 3 weeks and then can be modified to fit one's needs or even repeated for another 3 weeks or as long as needed to reach one's goals. I am going to continue the sensible eating (I like having my food choices laid out for me) and will continue to walk 4-5 days a week and do weights and Pilates as often as I can so I can maintain. I loved SSing when I first started, but I just couldn't get back to basics again. I tried over and over again to get back the momentum I had when I first started SSing, but it just wasn't there. With this program, I am eating more carbs, but I am making sure they are whole grain carbs. I am eating nuts, peanut butter, honey and some sugary treats but all in moderation. The book lists hundreds of options for meals, healthy snacks and "indulgent treats" and I can always find something to eat that satisfies me. I tried to stay away from sweets while SSing, and I always ended up eating something "illegal" and going on a binge afterward. Then the whole cycle started over again and each time it was harder and harder for me to get back on the wagon. But I think I have finally found my "groove" with this program from Prevention. ARGGHHHHH - I just lost a very long personal post and lost it. I guess that is a good indication of how my day will go - gotta change that thinking quickly. Besh - glad your day went smoothly. That is the only thing I liked about school starting, was getting back on a schedule. You deal with so many different emotions - I am glad the family is getting it together to help FIL. Dee - FIL is in my thoughts and prayers! Joanne - John checked in recently through BJ, I don't think he renewed his membership here. Zig works long hours and travels a lot with her job, so doesn't post anymore. I told her about French Lick and she is hoping she can make it. Once it is set in stone I will contact her again. Lynn - we hope you are safe and hear from you soon. Tikanis - I wouldn't mind losing those 10 pounds, but not that way - hope you are healing quickly. Marci - I have been thinking of you and hope you don't have a lot of criers. Hope you and the kids had a smooth transition. Patti - glad that you and Dave are safe. My MIL is in W. Palm and lost her power, but still has her phone. How far are you from there? (I know I have asked before). BJ - what can I say sister - wish I was there to help you out. I could use a buddy for motivation right now. I have been so bad AGAIN. I have been in a funk this week. Partly that I get melancholy this time of year and partly that I want to do a lot of things around the house, that DH doesn't seem to think needs to be done. What gets me down, is that when I talk to DH about my ideas he is excited and agrees they are good, but then it quickly fades and I am let down. I know that in the grand scheme of things, this doesn't make a bit a difference and I should be grateful and appreciate all that I do have (because feeling like this makes me feel like a spoiled brat). So today that is what I am going to focus on, get my life back to a happy place and do something nice for someone less fortunate. How's that?

Maddie, In our MIcro biology class we were given 2 bacteria samples (taken from swabs of various places by upperclassmen) called "unknowns" and throughout the semester, though sampling, testing, hypothesis and analysis, we had to determine WHAT the bacteria were. What a picnic THAT was! I was ready to cry several times but managed to pass that grueling class.

Marci, I thought of you yesterday as the throngs of pre schoolers crossed the street in front of me, all holding hands. You have the patience of a saint!

I have more to say (Ha Ha!) but I must run. Payroll tomorrow! Hope to be back later today.

Hi everyone.

I have had a very busy week so far, but weighed this morning and was the same.

I'm not getting quite as much walking in and I do believe it shows. Also think I have some fluid retention. As long as I stay the same, it is better than gaining .

Dee - I hung up my hoe months ago - no time for games LOL. That will be awesome if you can make GF weekend, especially if Suzanne and Tikanis are in too! My little town will never be the same.

Since you girls may be coming to the Girlfriends weekend, tell me some of the things you would be interested in doing? I haven't scheduled anyone but my keynote speaker so far. I am definitely including yoga, kayaking, hiking, gardening and cooking. May offer chair massages and beauty tips. How about interior decorating? All around nutrition/health? Maybe a talk on social networking? - hey look at us! I'm interested in anyone else's ideas as well - you don't have to come to have good ideas. Don't worry Dee there will be no horses - sorry Suzanne LOL.

Hey Raeanne, how about "The Joys and Nutritional Advantages of Cocktails in the Morning"? or "Living your Life without Interactions with Large Animals"? LMBO!! (with apologies--again--to my animal-friendly sisters here). Seriously, I saw the agenda from this year, and I loved most of them. Topics that include reducing stress, meditation techniques, interior decorating, beauty tips (I can really use that!), everythig you mentioned is great!

I need to solve some problems for at least 3 coworkers now. BTW, I hope to win the mega-millions before next year and treat all of you to Raeanne's weekend.

Hi, ladies! It's me - back from the world of very little computer access!!!!!

I finally can access the internet on my little laptop, the first time in 3 months, so now I can play as much as I want. It was difficult using my friend's computer for very long at a time without being a nuisance, so it became just easier to not even try most days.

Looks like I've got a lot of reading and catching up to do. It's the perfect time to have a bad knee, I guess. Unfortunately, it's my artificial knee, and that's worrisome to me because all I did to start this problem was step carefully (I swear!) down off a curb Sunday afternoon, and ever since then, every time I turn around, I'm reinjuring it. Today, I've just stayed in bed with ice wraps until the man came to hook up my 'puter.

I've missed everyone. Looks like the divorce may happen next week now because my lawyer and I feel like almost-x's figures are as close to the truth as we can determine. I'll be glad to have that part of my life behind me. He's been more than unpleasant these last 3 months, and I can't handle any more stress.

Back in a day or so once I backread y'all's news!

Hi all-

I am thinking of Allie today, and remembering how sweet she was. She always had a kind word for everyone. I wonder how Zig is, too. I miss her popping in from time to time. I had the pleasure of meeting her and her family when we drove back from Canada. A lovely, wonderful lady.

Amy! How good to see you post! Miss you! Please come back more often.

Suzanne--what a great pic of you and SP. I'm so very glad to see that picture, and know that she is back to her self. The 2010 Alltech Equestrian Games are set to begin in Lexington, KY next weekend, and it should be something to see! I wish we could go together! I believe that it's the first time it's ever been held outside of Europe, and it's dressage events.

DH is working and I've been doing laundry and trying to pay bills (by grabbing $$ from different accounts). Some months you just can't win....

Donna, please put that weekend on your calendar so we can drive up together. I'm about 3-4 hours from Raeanne's party! Hope others decide to join in.
