Even if they've never exercised, the middle-aged and older can still benefit by beginning now. Experts say sedentary people will actually fare better in percentage gains relative to active people, since they're starting from zero. "It doesn't matter how old you are," says Colin Milner, founder and CEO of the International Council on Active Aging in Vancouver, British Columbia. "It's never too late to start exercising." Here is a link that might be useful: Exercise Is Healthy, but Does It Make You Live Longer?

I am a believer. My sister fed her beloved cat only kibble because "wet food makes her poop smell too bad." That cat had kidney failure by age 11. My own cat pretty much refuses to drink water. He used to drink it out of the faucet but he won't even do that now and never out of a bowl. Heck, I'd be happy if he drank out of the toilet! So, I feed him a 5 oz can of food per day and add extra water to it. He doesn't mind that I dilute it and he gets extra moisture that way. My brother's two cats are fed only kibble (the cheap grocery store kind) and both are very over-weight). I think what someone posted above about prey being 75% moisture says it all. PS: I wonder if my cat won't drink water because he getting all the liquid he needs from the wet food????

I looked at the Innova, Ziwi, and Pitcairn(sp) information. Since I do not have cats, I did not look there. the two websites simply say what every other dog food manufacturer says---we do it better, use better ingredients and are safer than any other manufacturer. (They both use grains, BTW) There is nothing abou poisoning by products or any other threat. the Pitcairns web site is best summed up by this paragraph---- "ANHC was founded by Richard Pitcairn, DVM, in 1986 as a clinical and teaching center for the understanding and use of homeopathic medicine in the treatment of disease. We also emphasize the use of excellent nutrition using home-prepared & raw foods." No telling what stories they tell to convince people of the horrors of using pmanufactured foods.

Oh, good! Glad to hear that's the right one. I first googled the combination of "nutrition calculator" + "your own recipe." That gave me a message board archive for Spark People; one of the messages sounded promising, so I poked around on the site till I found the calculator. It sounds like a great idea! I think I'll try using it myself. Sue
