exploding food!?!

Can't remember ever having a baked potato do this as a kid... and seriously doubt if we ever poked holes before they went into oven. Baked a potato yesterday. When I figured it was probably soft, reached in with oven mitt to give it a little squeeze... and ALL the insides shot out all over inside of oven! And I had poked 4-5 spots on 2 sides with a knife before baking. Know that this is to make vent holes for a potential air-tight seal by the skin... inside expands and KABOOM! Thought I'd end up with a REAL mess in oven, but once cool... bits and pieces just kinda swept up.

Years ago, Dad brought back some fancy china brand egg coddlers from a trip to England/Ireland/Scotland. Had never used one but liked the concept of a softboiled-ish egg without dealing with the shell. Larger coddler easily held 2 large eggs. I sprayed inside with non-stick stuff, got water boiling/simmering, and set timer. DING! Pulled coddler out, dumped water and checked eggs... whites were NOT cooked to my liking... a lot of CLEAR stuff... NO! Since I already dumped the water, decided maybe 45 seconds to one minute in microwave would do it. About 15-20 seconds in... and both eggs SHOT out of coddlers and splattered all over inside of microwave.

Vividly remember my Grandmother (tho terrific cook, prone to BURNING stuff) let a pot boil dry with 5-6 eggs in it. They went off like GUN SHOTS. What a MESS! And all she did was laugh!

Any kitchen explosions or eruptions?
