Comments (3)I would keep it simple. What are her hobbies, what color does she favor? Does she send out many cards? Does does she have family? Are you doing this at work or other? How many would be their, and last of all, do you feel this is what she would like? If she is still working, maybe a nice dinner out with a group of friends.. If you could tell us more about her, where she works, etc that would help...See More80th birthday
Comments (1)80 is a big birthday. I think I would chip in together and get a beautiful floral arrangement to surprise him when he comes into his office. That will make him feel special. Then he can either take it home or enjoy it at the office all week. When I would get flowers at my office, I usually put them out where everyone could enjoy them after a day or so. With that plus lunch plus cake, I don't think you need any other decorations or small gifts. Especially if there are more than just a few of you, you can get a really impressive arrangement. I think men especially appreciate flowers because they don't get them as often as we do. But everyone enjoys the luxury and beauty of a gift of flowers....See MoreBirthday party ideas for my mom
Comments (5)I've been thinking more of this, and I think I can get her DH to go along. Since we've not really ever done anything for mom on her birthday, she would easily buy it that he's taking her to the casino to celebrate. They go frequently, and he can say they're going to meet his brother & his wife. She'd totally buy this scenario. Then I can do an open house at the club house. I figured I can supply the main dish (something simple) and non-alcoholic beverages. Everyone else (family) can pitch in with food stuffs, too, and I know that the people in her park will be happy to pitch in with pot luck. If my mom doesn't know that family is going to be there (including me) she'll absolutely love it. Our family has a tendency to do surprises of unexpected family at events and it's well received. My primary concern now is trying to find lodging for everyone...since virtually all family will be from out of town. I think this could be a blast for mom, and she wouldn't mind people knowing her real age. It would tickle her because her peers are ancient (looks & energy wise) compared to her. She loves to be the center of attention, so I think she'd really like this....See MoreMom's birthday party...ideas?
Comments (5)Thanks for the idea about the wii...I know all my kids have them so I might get them to bring one. We're going with a taco-fest. Figured we have fresh veggies so we can use them in the meal. Making up a bit vat of taco meat, vegetarian refried beans, spanish rice and all the fixings. My sister will bring fruit for margaritas & we'll set up a couple of blenders on the deck bar. I've delegated out food & work to everyone and so far I'm getting good responses. Everyone seems excited. We've got it all planned out how to surprise her...I think she's suspecting something is up, but I have a trick for her. I'm also going to have everyone write out their favorite memory of her, some people haven't known her all that long, and of course, my siblings and I have our memories. It'll be fun to see what peoples favorite stories about her are. Also plan to have someone video and be sure to have lots of cameras out. Heck, there may even be some dancing! My son told me that there is a local store that had plastic margarita glasses on sale, so I'm heading there this evening to get stuff. I've got tons of streamers and decor, so we're going to have fun with this. Thanks for the suggestion of the tacos...that is perfect! Cold cerveza and margaritas...and it's supposed to be 95 that day...nice evening breeze at my house, sounds like a great party is on the way....See Morecmg01
