Woodie, you took the words right out of my mouth. I love the picture Gina posted of nature's naughty little speed bumps. But, I can't top it ... and yet, I wouldn't mind being the one on the bottom. Terri, I'm kidding. I hope you brought a can of Lysol to the party.
Thank you all. It was a quiet day. The only excitement was picking up a new-to-me washer dryer set to replace my ancient ugly almond mismatched pair. My dryer went out, fixable but at 20 years old, I don't want to look at it anymore! I postponed celebration until a more rested, less moist day.
Happy Birthday! And good luck with your new washer and dryer. Did you get anything cool or just the basics? I guess that question belongs on the laundry forum! : )
Nothing fancy, just the basics. Here's my pre-owned deal. They seem gently used by a young couple with a toddler. They bought a new house that came with a w/d so they sold these.
They are happy swishing and whirling as I write. Things got a bit backed up. The dryer went out last week sometime. I had this grand notion of going to the laundromat, even had things in three large laundry baskets presorted, but could never summon the grit! I remember the old apartment days of my twenties when I went once a week with the car loaded up and spent two hours at the fluff and fold with a book. If a friend came too, we'd have a bottle of wine!
Happy BD Eileen. My first Syrah and James Beard cookbooks came from you and I liked the Syrah and by some synergy was looking at the cookbooks last weekend for inspiration, they are a joy to read. James
Eileen: I couldn't figure out how to get in the FF at 10:30 then I fell asleep. Now I'll have to find Kermit and Ermit, so we can sing. I'll be back , Lou
Eileen: Sorry I'm late. My computer is still screwed up. I made Kermit and Ermit sleep at my house, so we could sing to you this morning. Here they are now, Kermit is the one with the blue hat.
Ready Guys, You have to sing out so she can hear you in Ca. OK LOU !!! Here we Go !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! {{gwi:1472039}}
Sharon, I would have happy missing this birthday, too. Don't know why but I cried all day. I postponed a dinner out with the kids until I feel a little perkier. This thread was as celebratory as it got. I gave myself my own present. See above. I hope the rest of the year is better.
Eileen: Guess I should really feel bad. I'm a lot older than you. I probably have about 10 times as many problems. BUT!!!!! I try to keep smiling or else my face may crack, when I do. Tell you what! You, Tell me your Dream and I will tell you mine! Hey I think , I just made a Song !!!!! LOU
based on what you've said, eileen, i may not be the least bit late in wishing you a happy birthday. there have been a couple of times that i delayed a celebration until i was feeling more like myself and that makes sense to me. and i hope that today just might be that day for you! many happy returns, even if things got off on a slightly delayed start!
Oh, yes, I'm feeling far better today than a few days ago. I was really ambushed by the blues this year for some reason. It's been tough year in a few respects. Financially: I had much less freelance work than I need to support us. So there was a lot of added stress. All is fine now, though. Romantically: Also disheartening. But I am stunningly healthy and I have wonderful children who only make me a little crazy.
Today is Alice's other winter formal. Alice is a trooper. She's been beset this week by a sty on her eye (just beginning to bloom), a cold sore (just fading), a chest cold (still hacking), and the high likelihood that she and three other girls will look like the hot pink bridesmaid quartet at the dance tonight. She learned on Thursday that 3 other girls have her exact dress in hot pink. She is still looking forward to a fun evening.
We gave her a spray on tan last night. I wouldn't let her get acrylic nails or a real tan in a booth. Mean mom!
I'm playing fairy godmother to my little Cinderellie. The mice are hard at work hemming her dress and the bluebirds are fluttering around the room. ;)
Lou, I know you've had a much more difficult year than anyone deserves. And you do it all with aplomb and joy. A good example for dour me.
