SS Daily Support: Mon, July 5 - July 11

Hi Guys!

Time to start the healthy, balanced eating again! And don't forget to include exercise in your daily routine!

I gotta work today, so I'm checking in here first.

Had a nice time last night...invited some folks down to our office to watch fireworks. We're on the water, so it's a GREAT view! But...wine, brownies, and chips -n- dip do not do ANYTHING for weight loss!

How long do we have until the next holiday? haha....

Good morning!

I know what you mean! Heck, we had Popeyes fried chicken last night for dinner! I ate it all - the coleslaw, the chicken, the dirty rice, AND the biscuit! What is wrong with me???

I was all ready for our morning walk to get back on track, and darn if it didn't start raining. Then I remembered that I had Jillian Michaels' exercise DVD, "The Shred," so decided to try it for the first time. OMG - it is a workout, and I only did the beginners'. You don't need a lot of room or equipment - just some hand weights and a mat. My young, in-shape niece had recommended it. I am sweating and it's only 20 minutes! Have any of you tried it? My niece swears by it and says each day you feel stronger. Sounds like a plan to me!

Good idea, exercise helps a lot of things. I'm older but try to walk the dog 1km a day - better than nothing for both of us. I use a walker so it isn't very fast but it is nice to get the fresh air.

Glad to see this posting started. I wish the Weigh In one would take off, too. I find it helped me a lot but maybe I will start posting my weight here.

OK, if I have time to check in, there is no excuse for you. [[[[[[[[[[Donna]]]]]]] so sorry about your family loss. Our friend's cousin was a news anchor in Tampa years ago..with a horrible end to her life. So sad for everyone. I have been listening to "Intuitive Eating" CDs, which accompany the book. It has really helped me identify emotional and mindless eating over the last week. I hope to use this to see if I can just stop dieting. No diet has helped me for long. This shows you a new way to look at all food; nothing is off limits. No guilt over what you choose, but I am definitely eating less during the day. Not getting on the scale either; I'll know if I can break through this mindless stuff. Also cut out 99% of the salt I used; I'm tasting food again. Really wierd but it seems to be clicking with me. Again, no diet; just trying to change my relationship with food. Will let you know how it's working from time to time. Tikanis, how was your weekend? Check in with us! Good Morning All, BJ, WOW, what a post. I cannot believe your incredible energy. I have not read or seen the Ya Ya Sisterhood, I suppose I am going to have to now. Might be a nice rainy Saturday afternoon thing to do. But for now I am going to call you Sister of endless energy and enthusiasm! I read every word of your post. Talk about catching up TIMES 10! LOL I am thinking of you too Raeanne, out there in Chicago, Chicago. Hope you are having fun. Too bad you and Gretchen can't hook up. Tikanas, I must have missed some posting as I did not know you were recently widowed. I am not aware of the circumstances but I am sorry to hear that. Sounds like you are indeed being good to yourself. I admire your committment to yourself to get/stay in shape. I have not even had the chance to talk to DH about the retreat. The truth of the matter is that he has not been home but for one evening since this whole thing blew up! He has been away working and when not working taking care of his DS's needs, getting him to court, doctors and dentist. Nicely managing to avoid having to deal with his life here! He calls dutifully every night to make sure things are "alright". We haven't even spoken of therapy or retreats, etc. This is the way it will go too I suspect until he "blows up" again. I am determined to go to this retreat it sounds good. The people who recommended it are the brother and SIL of my good friend who I ride with. I have never met her brother but I know they have had some real issues. Someone suggested this retreat to them and they went. They said that when they got there the looked around and said to each other that there was no way this was going to work and wanted to leave. The impression was that it the husband and wife were real "granola" ,(no offense to anyone), and nuts and seeds 60's type people. BUT they stuck it out and got so much out of it that they are going back for a refresher! The only other complaint was that all the meals were vegetarian. DH is strickly meat and potatoes but I won't even talk to him about the food. So, I hope that DH can find the time to come home long enough to talk to him about this. I have to admit that I feel very lonely lately. I think a big part of it is that I can't ride Sweet Pea and I am sort of cut off from alot of activities.........like the campout this weekend. It will be okay and I will get some fun time in before summer is out. Today I am cleaning all my grooming brushes and cleaning harness and saddle really well so they will be ready for Sweet Pea's return to work! Dosen't that sound like fun! I was going to drive my trailer down into the pasture and set up camp with the horses but my sister told me that was really pathetic!! I am still thinking about it only it's rainy. Marci, I can't believe you have the energy to organize a yard sale! They are a lot of work but I guess there is lots of money to be made. I am doing HORSE LAUNDRY right now. Saddle pads, trail packs, etc. They have to be washed twice!! First load is spinning right now............I will check in later.

Donna - I have a lot of confidence that you will find some time to "play" next week, enjoy the time off! Besh - I agree, don't get frustrated, we have all been there and if you keep behaving it will only be a temporary gain. Suzanne - I love tarragon too, also rosemary. Dee - one of our closest friends is a dentist. I always ask him how it feels to have so many people afraid of you. He is one of the nicest men I know and I can only imagine that he is very gentle and compassionate as a dentist. He lives over an hour away or I would go to him. Marci - I have my gyn appointment in a couple of weeks - I dread it too, but necessary. How is DD doing (and you)? I can't wait to see DD#1 in a few weeks! Patti - if you are reading, we miss you, hope you are having fun being a grandma LOL. My MIL had been visiting since Sunday, she was suppose to leave on Sunday but became very bored and left today. I guess my BIL's house is more exciting (thank goodness). You can't even believe all the things we did with her and she is still bored. She had her hair done, we took her shopping, out on the boat, out to breakfast twice, out to lunch another day and out to dinner one night. DH went into work late so they could spend time together and 20 family members were with us Sunday and Monday. I wish I had time to get bored. QOD - No agenda and I hope it stays that way. I haven't had my house to myself since last Friday and it feels good to just be home. As much as I go out I am really a homebody at heart. Friends are coming up from FL tomorrow evening, so we will probably go boating if the weather permits. Enjoy your weekend.

Good Friday, Ivamae, congrats on your loss and for getting through dental surgery so well! You must feel good about having that behind you. Jan, don't stay away so long. I miss you. Seems everyone is disappearing these days to other social networks. Dee you have a fun weekend! Besh you have had your share of sadness lately. We have to turn that sadness into joy some how! I am glad you are posting here again. I've missed you. Heat,heat, heat, here too. It's awful. This is longest heat wave I can remember. The good news is that I get a break from mowing! LOL This heat is tough on Sweet Pea but she is staying in front of her fan. I wish this heat would end. This morning we put up 300 bales of hay. That's the first half. They came early so that we weren't doing it in the heat of the day. It always feels good to have hay in the barn. Because of the heat, humidity and BUGS I have not been riding. Even at 4:30am the deer flies are out full force. It just makes riding not fun for Casey or me. There has been so much wildlife activity here right now. We have a new batch of three foxes, a doe and her little fawn, a slew of baby woodchucks, turkey hens with all their little babies, a new brood of Phoebes and it looks like the Bluebirds are going to start a new family. I love this. This morning I saw the tallest coyote that I have ever seen. It looked like an eastern Timber wolf. We all saw him cross the pasture and keep going. He was a big one. I am glad he kept going. I must finish my chores before it gets too hot to do anything constructive! Have a good weekend.

Hi all!

"wine, brownies, and chips -n- dip do not do ANYTHING for weight loss". No, but it's good for the soul. :) Every now and then I'll have one of thoses days. Yesterday was one of them, and I think I would have been alrght **if** I had ignored the Krispy Kremes. However, today is a new day, and it's back on the healthy eating for me. (OH, yeah, the homemade cheesecake was good, too.....)

((((Besh)))) I'm so sorry for your loss!

Just checking in to say hi--summer classes are in full swing, and I am dying here. Although, the professor makes up for all of the work--he dragged out a digestive system, and let us root through it. He's great! :)

I wrote a very lovely post last week and I couldn't submit it UGHHHH. Really it was lovely, LOL.

Too many hugs needed here. (((((HUGS))))) to both Donna and Besh - too much sadness.

BJ - I didn't want to ask how you were doing without Baby V as I figured you were having a time of it. ((((HUGS)))) - I can't imagine how you feel but I think of you and Baby V often.

I am working today too, but leaving in a few short, but not short enough minutes. We spent a lot of time out on the lake this weekend, along with thousands of other people UGHHH - I don't like to share LOL. Watched the fireworks after a nice BBQ. The weather has been spectacular, but looks like it is going to be too hot today and at least tomorrow.

Hope everyone had a fun and safe 4th!

BJ, like Raeanne I figured the holiday would be tough for you guys without Baby V....((many hugs)). I also thank you for your hugs - I agree way too much sadness.

Besh, you and your family remain in my prayers.

BJ and Maggie, some days we just HAVE to go for the wine, brownies, chips and dip and so on...........life is too short, we can always hop back on the good girl wagon tomorrow.

Jan, don't beat yourself up. You enjoyed it and deserved it. I wasn't a star myself yesterday :-) Heck, it was a holiday!!

Maddie, glad school is going so well for you.

Ivamae, like you I have got to get this butt moving.

I'm off this week and plan to chill, shop and visit the beach. I also will really try and make good choices with my food. When I visit WW on Thursday I hope to be down...so far I am down 7.8 lbs in 5 weeks. I feel pretty good about that.

Love to all...hopefully I will check in more often this week since I'm off.

Greetings Dieters...and my PERSONAL favorite, MY Maddie!
(That's my pet name for you, Maddie)

Well, my handlers have taken off for the day, so I am checking in with my FAVORITE bunch of girls!

You know, you girls look fantastic from where I stand. Your personalities SHINE through and I would love to meet each and every one of you...but especially Maddie.

My advice is to wake up every day and START ANEW. And exercise for YOURSELF. -Just a little bit each day.

And, don't forget, as you girls say, CHECK IN!

BJ ((((HUGS))). I am so sorry, I didn't know that Baby V had been adopted. I knew it was getting closer, but I didn't realize he had left. How are you doing? Will you be able to stay in touch with him and his new family? He was so lucky to have you and your family in his life to give him a loving jump start in his years ahead. The world needs more giving people like you.

Did everyone have a nice long weekend? My son and DIL are up for the wake and the funeral so we have had some bonus time with them. The weekend was nice and laid back...just what we all needed.

Thank you all for your condolences. Things won't be the same without her.

Well, I weighed this morning and am down that pound I gained previously. So now I'm down a total of 41 pounds.
That is where I was back 1 month ago. I'd like to lose another 6 pounds and that would give me a bit of fluctuation room. I do want to stay at no more than 150 if possible.

Our weather is very hot and humid but supposed to cool a bit by the week-end.

Ivamae, I KNEW that you would lose that LB!! In reponse to your earlier question, I only weigh every 3 weeks or so. I am in no hurry, as I only have a few more lbs to go.I know that I am staying on plan, so I know the scale is moving in the right direction. The aim is to take the last of it off slowly and KEEP it off! When I get to 5 lbs below goal, (my "wiggle room") I will weigh every week just to keep myself in check : )

Thanks to all those comforting words about Baby V. We are in contact with the adoptive family every 3 weeks by email. We hope to be a part of Baby V's life...

And CONGRATS to those who are LOSERS!

We're havin' a HEAT wave here...I'll bet that, on top of the SHRED tape, would have me down to bikini size in NO TIME! haha.

I've been getting in some walking and lots of jumping around in Sunset Beach surf. What a great time we're having. fun in the sun

Okay, here's the news from my Visualization Diet...I am LOSING! Although I have a LONG way to go, this morning, I was a 1/2 pound away from 190. This has been my mini goal for SO LONG. I AM THRILLED, so I came here first! haha.

Congrats BJ, I need to know more about this visualization diet. I am once again visualizing a thinner and healthier me while I work out, but I really need to start visualizing throughout the day.

Ivamae - Congrats - keep up the goor work.

Dee - glad you are enjoying your home away from home!

Donna - tell us about your week off.

No plans for this weekend, except a wine dinner tomorrow night. I work all day tomorrow, Sunday looks like it might be a good boating day. I like having no definite plans for a change.

Happy SATURDAY!

This is our last day here; we will head up north about 3am tomorrow (Sunday) morning. Should be home (without traffic) by 1 or 2 pm, just in time to get ready for the work week. [sigh]
