Have you read any of Harlen Coben's books? They are very suspenseful and have a bit of sex, although not as much as a Harlequin-type book.

Also, James Patterson has quite a few good books. I am a fan of the "Alex Cross" character books and there is a new character "Michael Bennett". A good bit of suspense, some have a bit of sex.

These are just a couple of authors that come to mind at the moment.

Suzanne Brockman writes about Navy Seals and includes sexy with or without the romance :) while the whole gang is saving us from the "Bad Guys".
I have read her books out of order and I am going back trying to read some of the older books. You get to know the characters and their relationships with each other. Not trashy, definitely sexy! And definitely thrilling. The older books are in the library.

Ditto what work in progress said. Also Patricia Cornwell, Iris Johansen, Jonathan Kellerman. Janet Evonovich is a mystery type, hilarious and sexy. Not my usual style but I love her books.

I'm listening to Linda Howard's Death Angel, very good. Another one of her's Drop Dead Gorgeous was delightful. I laughed all the way to work.

My favorite is Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series. I want Ranger.

Elizabeth Lowell's cowboy books--uh wow.

Sandra Brown seems to have a lot of sex in them. I like suspense, but usually skim the sex parts and got a little annoyed when listening to a book by that author on CD and that is when I realized that I prefer my suspense to keep moving and not be interupted by too detailed descriptions with sex.

Now don't get me wrong I love sex, just doesn't want the suspense to be interupted by it.

roseabbey - the one I listened to on CD was named Chill Factor. The suspense was actually pretty good. There were several different sex scenes with different characters too.

Karen Robards is one of the BEST - I may be prejudiced - she is an old Kentucky gal! Love ALL her books.

Nora Roberts - Love many of her novels (until she gets started on the trilogies-not so good). Just to name a few good ones: Carolina Moon, Norther Lights, Devine Evil, Montana Sky, Angels Fall.

Can't forget Lavyrle Spencer, one of my all-time favorits. She doesn't write suspense, but is a great writer. I went into mourning when she retired.

Just came back from the library. Will start with author Sandra Brown for my reading. It was hard to chose from the several books by her but I picked up Play Dirty and Chill Factor, both sound like great reads. Thanks for the suggested authors and titles.

lyfia, just finished Chill Factor, loved it. Usually I can figure out who the bad guy is before the end which is a bummer but this one kept me guessing til the end!

I thought you might like it and I agree on guessing until the end. So was it the right mix? I need to think about other ones I know of as well. Just have horrible mommy brain nowadays and that combined with my age doesn't seem to help.

I wouldnt of minded a little more sex but what was there was good! I am going to start reading Play Dirty today.

I just finished reading the first three Alex Kava books. She has a main character - Maggie who is a FBI agent. Serial killers, intrigue and romance all tied up in one book!
