Look who is backing up Raeanne! LOL!

Work is insane, so I am really looking forward to "getting away" with Raeanne and Suzanne this weekend. Should be a fun time with lots of pictures to share.

I certainly hope that this is the beginning of a good week for everyone.

I am MIA myself - SO HI EVERYONE! I have to go back and READ to CATCH UP!

I have a ton of work to do today....because...

I am going to pick up a 6-week-old baby tomorrow morning - fragile and failure-to-thrive. I'll have her for a week. Ahhhh - sleepless nights, here I come. She has a brain shunt and can't go more than 3 hours without eating. We are going to help her gain weight!

As well, I was busy this weekend --I am getting my yard and house ready to sell. I am not happy about THAT, but it is the only option at this point. I will get over it because HOME is wherever your loved ones are!

I will email pictures around of baby, then house!

Hope all is well. My GF's lumpectomy went well on Wed/Thurs. Hopefully, all the test will be clear. We'll find out at 4pm.

Maddie! How'd your horse do in the Derby????

Hi everyone! We've had a horrific storm system blow through yesterday. Got cedar boards outside for the garden - watched those fly by literally like matchsticks in the breeze. A few are now in trees. Listened to our new home roof creak in the wind - very unnerving. It was about 100km/hr all over parts of Ontario yesterday. The strongest wind I've felt since leaving Scotland (winter was gale force winds normally Jan-Feb). Been really focused with my usual - plants. Seedlings, seeds and plants. Did I mention my plants? Somehow managed to cook meals, clean the house and do laundry in between. Like most areas this spring - too frigging cold to do the normal plantings of cool weather crops. Haven't been doing too bad in the food department. Trying to remind myself everyday to drink water more, coffee/tea less. Actually picked up some generic orange juice (can't afford $5.00 per carton and up. Barely afford coffee but we've given up so much with soaring food prices there is a limit. Cooking better meals again. And still maintaining my weight in the healthy range - overall pretty happy with the efforts of the last 5 years. I'm the turtle in the race. Every winter focused on smaller goals and then maintenance until next winter. My success so far has been applying a gradual weight loss and making healthier habits lifestyle. And now - The Royal Wedding I woke up at 7am EST and caught the event live just as Will & Kate were returning from the church. My goodness she chose a beautiful gown - very classy. I couldn't help but smile the whole time watching and they kissed twice! So happy. The queen was even caught smiling a lot. Kate sure has a beautiful family. Her sister looked smashing too. They look in love. I wish them a bright future. I'm looking forward to the pitter patter of little feet too. Such a wonderful day. I popped onto the thread with newbie Cathy8091 - I'm hoping to coax her into joining our Merry Band! If you see her thread - please feel free to jump across and welcome her. We all need support and this is such a big family with big hearts! Have a fantastic day everyone. Hi Maddie~ Glad you checked in, but what a bad situation. Take care--and MOVE out of there. If the cops suspect a meth lab, they likely would have cleared the building immediately. Meth labs are extrememly toxic and smell like cat urine and chemicals---you can tell if there is a meth lab operating. The smell is really (chemically) OUT OF THIS WORLD. Along with the smell, meth labs generate an emormous amount of garbage---bottles and bags of chemicals, used tubing, and LOTS of small boxes of cold medicines. Are their windows covered 24/7? Can you check with the landlord to see if they pay rent in cash only? Are there visitors all night? If you and your neighbors really believe there is a meth lab operation, you should get license plate numbers of their visitors, call the police, and then MOVE OUT. If that place is a meth lab, you will be forced to move anyway! If law enforcement busts a lab, they evacuate the building until the haz-mat process is over and the apartment is cleaned, inspected, and repainted. It's a LONG and expensive process. They might just be smoking and selling crack, which is really as bad and dangerous for the residents of the building, due to the rise in crime associated with crack use, and the acrid odors and weird people you have to deal with. For your own safety, peace of mind, and sanity...MOVE...asap. We love you.

Happy Hump Day! The 15 minute strategy is a great coping skill. I use it a lot but mine is more along the lines of just get off your arse Peggy and do one small thing on your hit list. It will lighten your load and be gone. Using that strategy yesterday worked for me too. I was in a grouchy, feeling sorry for myself mood - so I decided to do one thing which led to another and another. Started by relocating our recycle box out of the kitchen to the utility room (we're on one level). Packed away items in the pantry better. Then I spied another tote container that needed unpacking - well didn't it have my summer clothes in there? And surprise surprise - better fitting jeans I bought a couple of summers ago when I was still heavier but wanted to be at goal weight. I discovered 4 pair of jeans that now fit and a pair of jean shorts that now fit. I was going to buy jeans and now I don't have too. Talk about perking myself up. And I accomplished a few things. Our friend popped round about then with a load of red currant plants for me to plant. Yay. It was really crappy weather outside - cold, windy and starting to rain hard so we talked him into staying for a couple of movies and dinner with us. That was a pleasant surprise. So the day just kept improving. It all started with deciding to do one thing or like the 15 minute rule. Just to get moving - even if it takes a cattle prod to get me going - once I get started I normally feel better afterwards. Last night I felt beyond tired so I had a sedative - work up at 11am!!!! DH just let me sleep. Must have needed it. My problem is getting to sleep or staying asleep. I think I've caught up again. It's noon now, finished my coffee. I'm hoping it rains a wee bit so I can get those plants in the ground (drives off the black flies). Either way I have to get outside and accomplish some more planting - still have rooted tree branches for balsam fir, butternut and hickory to plant along with my berry plants. We have another week of blackfly season to go then they start to disappear. It was spaghetti last night - today I'm eating a little lighter to compensate. It's all about balance. Maintenance. To get the weight down I've learned through WW if I know I'm going out for a big meal I can start the day before cutting back and then the following days eating lighter foods to make up for a big meal. It has worked great for me over the years. How are you doing today? What are your challenges? NH Suzanne I've never done Feng Shui. Keeping a positive flow in your home does help you mentally. My positive flow will happen as we settle into this new home - get the kitchen cupboards built, remove that clutter...get the storage cupboards with bookshelves on top built, remove that clutter - all in good time then my Feng Shui will just happen here. Well Wodka, I weighed this morning. It appears I'm on a plateau - neiher up nor down. That's a lot beter though than an increase. I did go yeserday. Had quite a time. I don't drive all that much anymore and because of all the consruction I went a different way - one that I'm not that familiar with. When I came to one town there was a detour because of construction - a lengthy one. Anyway got around that all right. Got to the next town and made a wrong turn and didn't realize it until I saw the name on a nursing home and realized I wasn't supposed to be anywhere near it. Turned around and found my way. When I got to the nursing home, my friend had a bad cold and they strongly advised ,for my own sake, that I not go in to see her. I was sorry about that but didn't want to get sick myself and bring the flu home to others. I asked them not to tell her that I had been here. I came home a different way than I went. Still not that familiar with part of it but all worked out fine. The weather was nice and I did run a few other errands so I don't consider it was time wasted. The fact I didn't see my friend gives me an excuse to go again in a couple of weeks. Bet I don't go the same route!!! I don't intend to do too much to-day. This old girl gets exhausted easily. Anyway I had a good sleep last night and a good walk with the dog this morning. Have a good one everybody.

Good Tuesday all,

Spring has sprung and I spent my day mowing our two fields. 5 hours later I am happy to be done...for now!

Jan, I am thinking of you always and hope you are well. Check in when you can. You know we are here for you.

BJ, I hope your friend's test is negative. Whew, hope you got through your busy day.

It's finally Friday! Why is it that even though I'm not working, there is still something magical about Friday? LOL

Raeanne,Suzanne, and Dee - have a wonderful girls' weekend and hoist one for me! I'd love to attend something like that.

Tikanis, I hope you're healing nicely by now.

Jan, I think of you daily and send up positive thoughts and prayers for you. Please come and post. Keeping things to yourself isn't always the best.

Marci, it's getting closer to time for that end of school happy dance! I'm sure it will be bittersweet for you, but think of how much playtime you'll have!

I hope everyone's doing well. I spent the morning with my friend helping her pack more things. The reality of her leaving is finally hitting both of us, and it's sad. We both realized today that this time next week, she'll be in Wisconsin, and that hit hard. :(

Jan, I have been MIA and was just catching up and learned the sad news about your husband. Hugs, prayers and love to you. Cancer is an awful disease. I lost my dad to it 4 years ago the 19th of this month.

Maddie, congratulations! Well done and well deserved.

Amy, I am sorry about Heather. It is a difficult thing when our furry babies are sick and in pain. Making decisions, even when you know they are right,is never easy. Hugs to you.

To all of your ladies at girlfriends weekend have a blast! Maybe next year I will be able to make it. Looking forward to lots of pictures.

I sooo wish you could all be here with us. It is a wonderful event, our Raeanne is responsible for most of the planning and activities. wonder Woman! The seminars, dinner was a hoot last night, beautiful suroundimgs..you should all join us next year. seriously, you all deserve it!

I've been missing this week too. Weight went up a bit this week but I'm not worrying about it. 19 treatments finished, 11 more to go. Starting to get quite red but really doing well, I think. Probably when they are all over I'll be totally exhausted. That is usually what happens to me. I'm fine while the pressure is on, but totally all in, when it is over.

Had a probelem wih my computer for 4 days but it is behaving itself now, after many many hours of work done by my son.

All the best to all of you. Will talk to you again next week

Hi, everyone.

Thanks for the kind thoughts. It has been a month since I lost Bobby, and I am just going through the motions. So much to do, and just can't shake being overwhelmed.

I'm trying to be "normal." My neighbors have had me to dinner several nights, again tonight. My friend who used to help with my pre-Katrina yard called and invited me to go to a movie with his friend. He knew how much I loved the book "Water for Elephants" so we went to see the movie. (Robert Pattison is so gorgeous, and Hal Holbrook makes me cry.)

Our best friends who live out of town call at least once a day to check on me. I've gotten where I report in to them, like a teenager, if I'm going to be out. We've made a joke out of it, but it warms my heart that they care so much.

Ivamae, I'm so glad you're handling radiation so well. Have they given you any cream for your redness? There's no reason you should have any discomfort while enduring treatment. When my sister was having radiation, I remember finding a cream online, actually created by a doctor whose wife had gone through radiation while battling (and winning) her fight against breast cancer. My sister said it helped a lot. He had a complete line of related products, such as shampoo, etc. If I can find more info, I'll let you know.

Again, thanks to all of you for thinking of me. The girls' weekend sounds like so much fun - I also can't wait to hear all about it.
