I've noticed since I've been on these forums that US posters often seem much more sensitive than we would be over here. I think that posters from Oz are also pretty robust. People often seem to get upset over perceived slights which I would not even have noticed. That is one of the reasons I like lurking on these US-based forums - these nuances make them interesting. To me Nancy was only pointing out what the original poster had specifically asked us to do and also mentioning that caps are hard to read and look a bit shouty. She finished her post with a little sweetener. So I don't think she needs to grovel. I am sure she's a poppet in the flesh :) I'll just say 'hello' not 'welcome' to pattioh because that sounds proprietorial and I am only a visitor.

Sorry Evelyn! My mind isn't quite in the game lately. I've been working 16-20 hour days. We've got around 80 registered so far but if each one brings somebody.... We're still three weeks away and I'd bet there will be another 20-30 register. I'm not including those that don't/won't register either; that's usually half the group! HALF of those who have registered are first-timers so you know more than 40 of the old crew is going to be there!!! At the risk of alienating some folks...we're trying to get an idea of a fairly solid number on those that are going to attend. It sure helps with the logistics if you're trying to run one of these and prepare. Remember the Ms. Cheap debacle??? I never want to be blind-sided and unprepared like that again. And I'm sure that you guys would appreciate better organization. We are also trying to build our MTPS database. These are the reasons that you are asked to register on the website. Please do me this LAST favor and register if you are coming. Since this is my going away swap I'd really love for it to be very special! Your next MTPS Director is going to really need your help. I've had two decades (maybe not quite that long) to get use to this but imagine coming in cold and hitting the ground running! If you were to click the "ATT Yahoo Help" line, you will be directed to an ATT HELP webpage, where they have a troubleshooting guide. You type in your problem in the form of a key word, then it will try to solve said problem for you. As per the idea that ATT Yahoo browser is part of your "MY CONNECTION", or is related to being a device that connects your computer, your modem to your dsl phoneline, or to the internet, no, this is not the case. Realize that the DSL modem that ATT provided (or maybe you provided your own)connects your computer to the dsl feed 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Even if your computer is off, the dsl feed is still comming in to your home and is ready to go as soon as you turn it on. ATT Yahoo gives you the browser, or "browser enhancement" when you sign up for the service because they want you to use it. They make money from advertizing. It comes with Yahoo! as its default homepage, and most people will just go with whatever the default homepage might be. When you sign up to dsl, they will tell you when the "switch" will be turned on from the phone company. After it is turned on, you hook up your modem to your computer and to your phone jack (with the little dsl filter box), and bam, that's it. Your computer is ready to go online. I believe that there may be a matter of setting up a LAN setting in the Network Connections area in the control panel, very simple, something that ATT will privide the instructions for, or walk you through, but none of the software they give you has to be installed. I personally like the software OK, but it is provided primarily to encourage its customers to stay on their sites, and ultimately increase their advertising revenues. --J
