Brother PE 150 - What else do I need?
Comments (4)Embird is an additional program that does many things and is completely separate from the reader writer box thing you are inquiring about...so you don't get confused. Your main concern is getting the downloaded design from the computer to the box and card and then to the embroidery machine. Just about any brand box will do that and remember to ask for a .pes formatted card that your machine uses. These boxes work similar to a computer external disk or floppy drive. I would first thoroughly learn the ins and outs of your machine and practice page by painful page. It will pay dividends later. You will also find out what type needles and extra hoops your machine uses. You also need extra hoops, needles, machine embroidery thread and various stabilizers in addition to the box so you may have to take the box cost into consideration....See MoreBrother PE-150 Presser Foot - should it move?
Comments (3)Also check the way you have everything hooped. The presser foot lifter should not be bouncing up and down. The hooping method was a big adjustment for me because I started out as a hand embroider and machine embroidery hooping is the opposite of hand embroidery and really get myself turned around the first few times. There should be a book and video to view that will answer many questions you will have. I would read the book and view the video several times, then practice the instruction book page by page....See MoreBrother PE 150 Once and For All
Comments (15)I am a new owner of the SE270D from walmart. I also got the PED basic from walmart. The only bad things so far seem to be: 1) 4 inch field, which I knew from the start, I'm learning to rehoop. 2) gotta get a program that will convert files to .pes (not a big deal, but have found a couple so far I want!) 3) have to find a program that will allow me to resize a design so that it will fit on my hoop! So, that's it so far, wanna have some fun, get some varigated thread! It's like a whole new world! LOL Lisa...See MoreDo you own a simplicity smart box or brother ped basic? If so...
Comments (2)I own pe basic and my machine lets me resize designs.... i have an ellageo. I think the problem is that the PE 150 is pretty limited in what it can do. So resizing would have to be done with additional software.... and that means tons of money. But on the good side, PE150 is a great starter machine but I eventually sold mine ( on ebay) with no loss and was able to buy a more sophisticated machine that took the same bobbins neeedles and feet as my brother PC 6000. SOmetimes I wish I had two machines again ... so I could sew on one and embroider on the other but it took up a lot of space and I had less flexibility because each machine had fewer features than the very expensive combos....See Morek4rbm
