Tonight they will followup on the people who were on different weight loss programs last year to see how they are doing. Kathy

Well all but one of the participants returned to their old ways for a while especially over the holidays.
I wonder if they knew Dateline would do a followup?
The men did the worst. The ladies - one gained a little (the marathon runner) but was happy where she was. The lady on WW gained and returned to the meetings so at the followup she was only up 3 lbs. The lady who was the largest had the personal trainer had lost another 10 pounds. She logged in and heard his advice on the computer and kept in touch with her internet friends who were had the same trainer.
The men returned to their diets again because they hated the feeling when they gained the weight (we know what that feels like!). Kathy

WC8- Thanks for the welcome! Since I was coming in late, i figured I'd try and fit something for each of the thread topics in, to get caught up, and it all started with a phal...I've already gotten some great ideas on how to change my setups (from the on-topic forum), can't wait to try. I love hanging out with the kids at school, it's so interesting to watch the little wheels turning in their heads and see what they'll come up with next. Logic in motion! Computers and I don't really get along, I'm a pharmacist, working in long term care. I make sure everybody's meds are playing well with others and that the Rules (big book o' stuff here) are being followed. My IT Dept probably has me on the list of serial computer abusers, they're always having to bail me out of some electronic disaster while in the field. Ah, the fun of politics. I wind up staring, fascinated, by the talking heads, usually while shaking my own. But, I keep listening, at least with half an ear. We've been listening to Nim's island in the car on the way home, has anybody seen it, would lit be good for a 6 yr old? When to water a repotted phal?

Hi Gesjenn, Welcome. Which cross did you get? My orchids are indoors in MN in dry conditions (humidity from 15%-50%), and the Phals are in NZ sphag and plastic pots. They get repotted in the spring. What works for me is to soak the sphag till it's sopping wet, then squeeze out a lot of the moisture before wrapping the plant. The ideal is for the sphag to be somewhat fluffy and damp but not wet. I could still squeeze out more water, but not a lot. The repotted Phal goes in reduced light for a week, several feet away from the window and artificial light. It doesn't get watered, which allows any raw root ends to harden off. The sphag may get dry - even crunchy - before the 7 days are up, but I tough it out. :) This method's worked with Phals that are new or stressed or both, plus those in spike, bud, and bloom. My one concern would be if you had any raw root ends in completely wet sphag and a plastic pot. If I'm not going to repot a brand new orchid for some reason - in spike, etc., and it's not a Phal - it goes in reduced light for a week too, esp. if it was shipped. Hope your Phal does well. Let us know how it goes.

I'm an early bird amy, so don't like to sleep late, but 4 am is ridiculous. I went in to the family room about 7 to see if there were any good movies on and promptly dozed off. I just woke up again, ack!!! Now I'm going to be floopy all day ;) I'm going to get moving and head outside. The end of the season here is looming, in two days our night temps will drop into the 20's and highs in 40's during the day. :/ I've already prepped the pond for winter and cleared the vegetable garden, but am about to yank out my remaining annuals. It's going to kill me. Doing it today because I can't bear the thought of doing it in cold temps and possible snow coming. I feel so lucky to be in Z5 and still have roses, herbs (my Lemon Verbena and Pineapple Sage are huge) and annuals blooming in Nov., an extra month of my passion !! ;D

She was quite the manipulator, right? I can understand why her husband believed in her. By the time they met she had changed her life, and really wasn't the "same" person, and settled into a "normal" life. He is the only one I feel sorry for. I watch that show regularly. Sue

I really enjoyed reading that. I know for myself, I have lost a lot of weight in my 20s and over the last 10 years ate and drank it back on. It will be a lifelong challenge for me and I am sure one of the successful tools will be reporting in somewhere, somehow to keep me focussed. Right now I do WW online and really report in at this forum. I love the reference material on site, once I reach goal, I may quit the WW online site and just report in here. If I start slipping again, I will report back to WW to attitude check myself.

I agree with the comment it takes 2-3 years to develop a new relationship with yourself and that we all make about 100 decisions a day on foods.

Well, if we didn't have these challenges life would be dull. We are lucky that this is our problem and not the problem of being hungry - like so many in this world.
