What's the worst thing you've fished out of a toilet?

The toilet in our MB has always seemed to flush slowly. I've plunged it and plunged it to no avail. Today, while cleaning it, I spotted a small orangish object and managed to get a hold of it with the end of a tweezers (yes, I wore rubber gloves!) I pulled out a strip of wallpaper about 1" wide by 12" long! We had our MB re-wallpapered a year ago! The paper hanger must have used the toilet for his waste basket. I just hope I got it all.

My kid!... Middle of the night we hear pained screams and we hit the floor running. We get to ds's bedroom and he is not there. Then I hear the little hiccup of tears come out of his bathroom.. He had gotten up in the middle of the night to use the potty and the lid was up, he sat down and in he went. DH and
I were laughing so hard we could hardly get him out. He was only about 4 yrs old at that time and it scared him pretty bad. He looked like someone had folded him up and stuffed him in and he wedged pretty good. He ended up with some bruising on his back from the toilet rim.
I know this isnt what you were thinking but that is the worst thing I ever pulled from our toilet. *need to go call him and remind him of this now* lol

Yesterday at work my boss accidently dropped her glasses in the toilet as it was flushing and they disappeared--she was too embarrassed to call maintenance so she put on a glove,reached in as far as she could and was able to retrieve them.

Wonderful thread, Bobby... see what your Banana Bread experience has spawned. Glad to know I'm not alone. My brothers, I'm sure, would have several "bizzo meals" to mention, as I like ingredients more exotic for their tastes (like mushrooms in my spaghetti sauce) but I think my worst was the first I served my now DH... One of my brother's had given me a variety of flavored vinegars asa Christmas present... one a "Salsa Vinegar" that I'd never tried before. I made a vinaigrette dressing, and the new BF (now DH) had forced down several bites of his salad (good boy, taught to clean his plate) before I got to my first one. One bite and I immediately removed the salad bowls from the table with "you do not have the eat this!!" It was HOT, and awful... DH says it took several more meals before he trusted that I really can cook!! LOL

Today, I essayed egg pizza. Previously, I've made huevos rancheros pizza with the eggs cooked just until set then added to the mostly cooked pizza with some salsa on top for the last minute. Yolks still nice and runny. And I've eaten the spinach salad pizza with sliced hard boiled egg where the egg was cold from the fridge going on and got pleasantly warm but not further cooked during the full time in the oven. Inspired by Lars (and an uninspiring fridge), I tried the raw egg thing. Made on a thin, oiled pizza pan. Personal sized whole wheat dough crust with a little extra rim--some of the white oozed off anyway, but remarkably, didn't make a mess and lifted right up with the pie. The same mild tomato sauce I usually use for pizza, spread a bit extra generously (not tomato-y enough to compete on flavor). Two eggs cracked into a ramekin then poured onto the pizza. Grated four cheese. Crushed red pepper, a bunch of dried herbs, and garlic pepper. I forgot it was raw eggs, and should have used the bottle that had salt. I should have seasoned more aggressively altogether since these eggs don't even have salty yolks. Even so, it tasted good. It was also a revelation. The sauce prevented the egg from soaking into the crust even though there were some fissures where the gluten had torn. The white was wonderfully fluffy. I finally realized that it was as if poached! But better. It looked more like sunny side up, with lovely, horizontal, white parts. I like the whites. Poached seem all about subsuming them to the great star yolks. The level of fluff, however, makes me think that the heat of the oven (475ÃÂ°) made them rise a bit or something. One yolk was well done, but the other was at that magic golden place where it's solid but not quite cooked all the way through. I'd call it a success overall.

My kitchen remodel fits In the everyone thinks I'm nuts category. Virtually every item in the room is salvaged. The cabinets, granite and fridge came from a demolition sale, the dishwasher, sink and faucet were installed in the old kitchen by the previous owner, and the light fixtures are from ReStore. The kitchen floor was the most work and it is fabulous. We removed it from a century old house being torn down, pulled all the old nails, racked it, bundled it with shrink wrap and stored it for a few years (even before we had bought the house!). Then we installed this floor in my remodel so that every piece of visible wood is one continuous piece. The short pieces down the center are over 6 feet, there's a section just over 8 feet and 2 boards across the stairway landing are 12 feet long. It is a mix of rift sawn and quarter sawn oak. I don't have any photos yet which do justice to the floor but it is stunning.

When I became interested in making jewelry, I knew absolutely nothing about it. A local bead store helped me get started with some basic tools and showed me how to string some beads on wire and crimp the ends. That got me hooked, but the internet is where I learned so many of the techniques I use today from a wrapped loop to much more complicated wire weaves and wrapping. My next goal is to teach myself how to use a torch. I've already learned how to make balled headpins and basic fold forming; fusing and soldering is on my list along with setting stones. The generosity of the members of online jewelry forums, bloggers and youtube video producers in sharing their knowledge for free is something I very much appreciate. I'm now in a position to share knowledge with others and I gladly do that to pay it forward. Another favorite past time is looking up recipes, cooking techniques and nutritional information. Like many of the rest of you, I also like to look up obscure facts and information. I love that a question can randomly pop into my head and I can instantly look up the answer. We travel a lot and the internet has made it possible to learn about the area we want to visit, plan an itinerary and book excursions, airline ticks and hotel rooms without ever leaving our house. Online selling sites like Etsy, Ebay, Artfire and Amazon Handmade, along with others, have made it possible for small crafters like myself to sell their products to a world wide market. We used to be limited to local craft/art shows and home sales parties, but now people can extend their reach beyond their wildest imaginations. Twitter, FB, Pinterest and Instagram make is possible to market products for free or little cost and reach huge numbers of people. It's possible to build one's own website if they wish to go out on their own and bypass the selling sites. Besides all of the above, the internet can bring people together to form very real communities such as the one we have here at the KT. I have met some of the nicest people online who have become friends more precious to me than some of the people I know in real life. The kindness, compassion, wisdom, knowledge and generosity of these people can be humbling. I find myself laughing at their jokes and stories, crying along with them during times of grief and troubles, celebrating accomplishments and milestones, admiring their talents and sharing advice when one hits a stumbling block. For all the negatives, and there are some, it's really opened up entire new worlds to so many of us. For those who are home bound, it can be their only contact with other people which makes it possible to have a social life. Families that are spread far and wide can stay in touch and the older generations can have very real relationships with the young generations. It's a wonderful thing for grandparents/grandchildren who live hundreds or thousands of miles apart.

The cordless phone at work.

And after I fished it out, and dryed it off, it still worked! I was too scared to admit I'd done it, so no one was the wiser..... I sprayed it with lysol and bleached the surface and tried to forget the whole incident!

Weird story:
A few weeks ago I went into the bathroom and found a pair of underpants floating in the toilet.
I must have stood there, utterly dumbstruck, for about 10 minutes. You see, I was alone in the house, so how did they get there? It was downright spooky (and a little bizarre, to say the least).
Earlier, I had tossed out some old clothes and I convinced myself that, perhaps in a sudden attack of Altzheimer's, I chucked them into the toilet instead of the garbage!

Anyway, this went on for a while, until I was definitely convinced I was losing it. Finally, it came to me that I had also taken a basket of laundry downstairs and had stopped in the bathroom to get the towels. No doubt this piece of unmentionables slid off the pile and into the toilet!

Duh!

I hate to even tell this but here goes....YUCK!!!

My cousin swallowed a $750 gold crown and knew it would have to come out. So, with a rubber glove she searched for it. On her third search she found it. She disinfected it and so did her dentist and it's now back in her mouth where it belongs.

This isn't exactly the kind of story you're looking for, but I think it's the creepiest thing by far. We're remodeling a house and gutted both bathrooms. Then we took out the toilet, we left it on the backporch until we had time to take a big load of stuff to the dump. It rained in the toilet, and when we went to take it off the deck we found a dead mouse floating in it. I made my husband take out the mouse, and when he did, he found another mouse with it -- attached to it, like they had died having sex or something!! Even creepier, the other mouse was completely hairless.

Ok I can't top the above, but once my stethoscope (I'm an RN) slipped off my neck just as I was emptying a bedpan into a toilet. Kerplunk! I fished it out & took it apart & cleaned it several times! Then I stopped wearing it around my neck!

The severed finger of a carpenter doing demo work.
He forget his sawzall and tried to work with a worm drive circular saw.
Those things have a lot of torque and are well known to kick back.
It kicked and his off hand got in the way.
It was too chewed up to be reattached.

I confess I try very hard not to have to fish anything out of the toilet. Keys once from a public restroom. Shudder!

I still hire the guy when I need a good carpenter for finish work.
He is noticeably more careful now, and does very good finish work.
He is one of only a couple guys who can do stain grade work and have it come out darn near perfect every time.
Despite the finger. And he jokes about it also.
