Freezing Smoothies....

I'd like to be able to make a number of smoothies at one time while the fruit is fresh from the market. Can these be frozen ?? I'm talking about ones made with milk and yogurt.

You can freeze milk and yogurt smoothies. Freeze in plastic drink containers. Allow enough room for expansion of the liquid when frozen. You can take them to work in your lunch and by the time noon rolls around, they can be shaken or stirred up with a spoon.

But you can also freeze the individual fruits:

1.buy the fresh fruit from the market
2.wash it
3.cut it up
4.sprinkle it with Splenda
5.place it on a cookie sheet in the freezer till frozen.

After it's frozen, place the pieces into individual serving size zip top baggies and it's ready to pop into a fresh smoothie mix!

Wild Chicken - any suggestions on recipes? I had no idea you could freeze them. I would like to do this and have them for breakfast.....I really don't want it to taste too much like yogurt but I don't mind putting yogurt in them....

I don't know about pureeing it, but I do think that frozen watermelon is included in the frozen melon ball mixes sold at most grocery stores, so I'm sure it would work this way. You probably should put just a little sugar and maybe some fruit fresh with it to prevent browning. I've never frozen watermelon, but I still have some of last years cantaloupe in the freezer, it's good frozen just as a fruit.

Ripe strawberries (10 or so? Depending on size) One small ripe peach 6-8 oz. plain yogurt Honey to taste I cut up the fruit, pop everything in the blender and mix it up. If the proportions need tweaking for your personal taste you can always add a few strawberries or another spoon of yogurt & blend some more. I don't have a very powerful blender so it doesn't chop ice very well - I just put a couple ice cubes in the finished drink if it needs cooling. Lots of other fruits are good in this basic recipe but I like strawberry-peach best. On hot hot summer days this is often all I want for dinner! (I am dreaming of those hot hot summer days now!) Another one that's not quite so healthy is coconut milk blended with fresh-squeezed lime juice. The coconut milk has lots of fat. But it is sooo yummy! Or you can cut up some seedless watermelon, put it in the blender & mix with fresh-squeezed lime juice. Easy, cool and delish!

This is one of the old-time "icebox desserts" from the 1930's. BANANA MARLOW 18 large marshmallows 1/2 cup boiling water 3/4 cup mashed bananas 2 tsp. lemon juice 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract 1 cup whipping cream, whipped (wait to whip) Combine marshmallows and boiling water in top of a double boiler. Cook over boiling water, stirring frequently, until marshmallows melt. Stir in banana and lemon juice. Cook an additional 2 minutes or until mixture is smooth and creamy. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract. Chill until slightly thickened. Fold whipped cream into chilled mixture. Spoon into 8" square pan. Freeze until firm. Let stand 5 minutes before serving. Slice into bars or squares. Can be drizzled with chocolate sauce. 8 servings.

So long-term exposure can be dangerous, leading to neurological and other symptoms. Children are at high risk of lead poisoning and may experience developmental delays, learning difficulties and seizures. Jenna Forsyth, the director of Project Unleaded at Stanford University, a research program that works to reduce lead poisoning, said the findings made her particularly concerned for pregnant women, given that they are often advised to increase their protein consumption during pregnancy. I alternate layers of fat free yogurt and fresh fruit with chopped nuts in small plastic containers. I freeze these and grab one on my way out to work in the morning. By noon its ready to eat. A great treat in the heat of summer! Vanilla yogurt with strawberries and blueberries and a few chopped almonds sprinkled on top. Yummmmm!
No reason why you couldn't blend this all up first and then freeze.

Thank you mush. it does sound good - maybe if I took it out when I got up it would be ready to eat by the time I got to work. that would be way healthier than what I have been eating!
