Saw the traveling show several years ago and it was AWESOME! The costumes are quite imaginative and the voices are beautiful. Enjoy!

Saw it on Broadway years ago--it was wonderful!

I generally avoid things disney and had low expectations for this, but tix came as part of my season tix so I went. I LOVED it - totally and completely. Last year when in NC, I took my friend and her 9 year old son and they also both loved it. The theater there was a bit smaller than the Seattle one where I saw it originally so the sets/costumes were toned down a bit, but it was still fabulous. If you liked the movie, you'll surely love it. I hadn't seen the movie.

Yes, twice! Once in Philadelphia and once in Washington, DC.
It is wonderful. I never saw the movie so I can't compare.

Thought I would to a follow up. Saw it last weekend in Mpls. MN. Can't say I was WOWED! They added a few new songs, did not do justice to my favorites. The costumes are the show. I would have been happier had we not paid for the superb seats we had. Nose bleed would have been fine in this production.

I agree with arcy in that the costumes are the show. If you saw the movie, it is difficult to get as touched and absorbed with the play.
We were given tickets to the Broadway show because my sister-in-law couldn't go at the last minute. Her boyfriend bragged about the seats being up close and in the aisle. For this show, you reall
y are better off furthur back to fully appreciate the costumes. For example, I love the giraffes. But up close, you can't help but look at the faces of the performers that are actually part of the neck. Further back you would see the overall look and grace of the costume.
That said, if it is close to the Broadway show you will enjoy it.
Just wanted to offer my opinion for those who might be purchasing tickets in the future.

Thanks for all the info. Darn, we are going to be fairly close. I should have asked about this before I bought the tickets, but it's too late now. Hoping that this post will perhaps help anyone else to buy the best tickets for the show.

You will not be disappointed. I saw this show on Broadway a few years ago. We had fifth row center orchestra seats on the aisle and at times I felt like we were a part of the show. I've seen quite a few Broadway shows and this one still sparks great memories. Enjoy!

I've seen it twice too. The first time, DD2 and I saw it in London. WONDERFUL! Gave me chill bumps. We were sitting almost exactly where you were. I was afraid it would be too close, but it was fine.

DH and I saw the traveling version in our town, and it was also good. You'll love it.

I saw it here in Birmingham several years ago and loved it, so will you.

I've become majorly enamored with musical theatre; in fact, just this past weekend I was "talked into" buying a Broadway series package from the AT&T Performing Arts Centre in Dallas for 5 shows, including "Jekyll and Hyde" and "Anything Goes."

What a joy it is to be caught up in a wonderful live performance! Lynn - can't wait to hear your thoughts after you see the show!

I saw Jekyll and Hyde when it was in previews in Newport Beach with none other than David Hasselhoff. He actually was very good. There is a song "This Is The Moment" that gave me goose bumps.

I LOVE the theater. The first musical I saw was My Fair Lady with Rex Harrison and Julie Andrews. I was 12. I have been addicted ever since.

When you are in London, make certain you save time to spend in the West End. OMG...the theater is the best in the world, NYC coming in a close second IMO.

Lynn, I know you will have a wonderful evening tomorrow. You will love Lion King. DH's birthday present from me in December 1997 was a two day trip to NYC to see Lion King. It was well worth the 11 hours of flight time.

I saw it in NY just a few weeks after it opened....and was wowed out of my mind! At that time Hakunamatata was not on everyone's lips, every kitten wasn't named Nala and all was unexpected.
When the show started with chant and very African chorus that begins the Circle of Life...I was just limp!!

The Lion King is musical theater on a whole different level...it's not only about the people portraying animals....but about the people portraying the emotions of the animals. It is important to watch the actors expressions, not to forget that the animals are operated by people.

If you can forget all the Disney cutsey stuff that has been added, you will see the show as it really is....a fabulous musical by Elton John and Tim Rice!

Marlene - I saw a couple of clips of "The Hoff" in J&H and yes, he was very good! Constantine Margoulis of American Idol fame will be playing the lead in the production I'm seeing.

I'm curious about Book of Mormon! I know nothing about it, but the woman who sold me the package of tickets that I bought told me that by subscribing, I would be among those to get first dibs on BoM tickets, and that I absolutely should not hesitate when I receive the phone call that they've gone on sale.

I've seen a few plays in London: The Importance of Being Earnest (starring Patricia Routledge), We Will Rock You (weird, but the music was great), and a production by The Reduced Shakespeare Company which was absolutely hilarious. I'm hoping Mom and I have the opportunity to see a show when we're back in the UK next year.

DS lives in Chicago, actually in the Theater District, so they went often BB (before baby). He's already bought tickets for Book of Mormon. Starts in December.

I went to see Billy Elliott the last time I was there with friends. Much better than I expected. Bought them tickets to see.

DH favorite is Jersey Boys. He's seen it in Vegas twice and took them to see it in Chicago when he was there painting the nursery. Loves the music.

We must be the only people in the universe who did not enjoy Lion King. I saw it on Broadway with our three kids and afterwards we were all "meh." But everyone else I know really liked it, so we are clearly the outliers on this one.

Thank you Lynn for the heads up re:the tour! I see where it will be in Austin from 1/10-2/16 so have no excuse for not going.

Youngest DD and I cried like babies at the movie, and since we both shared a passion for the movie, much of the music was played at her wedding.
