Personal preference. We're painting ours to match the trim which will now be painted. After living with all stained shoe's & baseboard throughout, painting makes it easier for repairing in my opinion.

I don't know what's considered "correct" in the decision of staining or painting shoe moulding. Maybe, it's just personal taste. In our case, we decided to not add shoe moulding at all. The gaps between the floor and the baseboard trim was minimal, so dh just put a little white caulking in there. We went with a 6-1/2" high baseboard trim. Along with being a tall trim, it also has a large enough thickness at the base to hide the expansion gap between the floor and the wall. -Laurie P.S. I'm not sure - but I'll list them and see: 2 pair basic pumps for work (black/navy) 1 pair black loafers (work/casual summer) 2 pair black ankle boots (work/asual winter) 1 pair knee-high snow boots 2 pair dress flats (silver/brown) 2 pair "dressy" heels (black/cream) 1 pair tennis shoes 1 pair yard loafers 1 pair flip flops for summer 1 pair black vinyl knee length heeled platform boots (for Halloween type dress up) 14 total, looks like. I'm okay with that - the "dressy" heels and flats I hardly ever wear, but I do need to keep them for those rare occasions I need a nice shoe in a specific color for a holiday party or some random event. I never wear the navy pumps, so those could probably go, but it's nice to have the option should I want it, and they're in good shape. I wear the heels out on a pair of pumps and ankle boots every year (due to daily wear, I'm sure), so I generally buy a new pair once per year, toss the old ones. This year I might see if I can just have them re-heeled though...

Pulling tape half hour after painting is ideal, but it's not a big deal if you can't pull it until later either. You probably want to score the tape with a razor knife before pulling so that there is a clean break and you don't rip off any paint. You should read the can of paint which will say when you can recoat, though most acrylic paints are around 4 hours in good drying conditions. Yes, the paint can take up to a month to cure.
