Annie1992 post Dying for some bean soup.

I read this post and just couldn't help myself!! I had a butt ham bone in the fridge with a fair amount of meat left on it so I decided to make it. My first attempt last year ended in a very thick mush that was awful!!

The post was a little confusing to me so this is what I did, if you see a mistake please tell me what and how to correct. This is not a crock pot!

Cornbread, isn't a problem, I bought a box at Food Lion and you only have to add milk and cook.

Thats about it I can't think of anything I forgot to say.

6qt pot

3 gts. water (roughly)

Pinto beans(1lb.dried) soaked for about 16 hours (didn't have navy) and drained till clean, now I see why you drain them several times, yuck!

Ham bone and meat probably about 1.5 lbs.

2 Bay leaves

Ground "rough" pepper

about 3/4 table spoon minced garlic (I like garlic)

about 4 stalks celery

2 big carrots

1 Big onion

Above vegetables were roughly chopped.

I put all this in the 6qt pot and it came up to about 1 1/2 inches from the top. I started it on low and thats where it is now. The above only took about 30 minutes.

PLEASE tell me if I am in the right track and don't even hesitate to correct me if something looks or sounds wrong.
