wine bottle light

Heres the wine bottle light I have been working on, the santa and snowman was cut from a napkin and decpodged on, the rest of the bottle is spounged shades of blue and a little white, the candle part is a candle stick lite that the plastic part was broke, took the socket out and glued it to the bottle,the cord comes out a drilled hole in the back, I used dimensional paint to make it look like a candle that was melting, I used diamond dust all over the bottle in places, the bottle cap says Happy Holidays and has some diamnod dust around the rim.

Is there a special kind of paint you use on the bottle, do you use some kind of sealer on it.

thanks for clarifying - spounds like you are making something like the "wine bottle lights" with xmas lights using clear glass votive cups or? clear bottles (have no idea what lipton tea containers are)and you decorate the outside with clear colored flat glass marbles. and you are looking for patterns to show like a mosaic design using the flat marbles, I have seen wine bottles with grape clusters made from the flat marbles. I assume you currently do vertical or horizontal stripes or abstract patterns. Since the marbles are quite large and votives are quite small. I am thinking it would be hard to find designs which fit. if it were me, I would make a papper pattern sized to the container and shrink, enlarge simple coloring book designs to fit and fit the marbles on it to see what works. you could do a snowman face, or pumpkin face maybe to. flowers would be easy too also http://images.google.com/images?svnum=10&um=1&hl=en&q=mosaic+pattern&btnG=Search+Images Here is a link that might be useful: ideas

Thank you for your compliments. Oceanna, these are for decorative purposes only. They have a string of lights in each bottle. I used a glass bit and cut a hole in the side of the bottle and then put lights in them. They are used for night lights or just decoration. Really pretty lit up. I sell them for $15.00 each. All you have in them expense wise is the gallery glass paint and a string of lights and I got the lights for $.99 so not much of an investment more time than anything. You can make several at one time by using gallon size zip lock bags to prelead your design on and then paint, let dry and peal and stick onto the bottle then use Gallery Glass crystal clear and fill in the blank spaces and let dry. I helped my father make wine during my entire youth. He had upwards of 1000 ginger ale bottles (still have over 500 with wine in them dating back to the 70's), and I helped him cap many of them using a simple hand press with beer caps that were lined with cork. I just opened a bottle of 93 vintage today, and it tastes beyond belief good. He never added sulfites to his wine, just pure grapes, fermented in a wood barrel for a year then bottled the next year. So, an occasional bottle would go bad, and it would land up in the vinegar barrel for some of the best vinegar to be had. So, old fashion cork beer bottle tops, if they can still be purchased, seems to be a good choice. Actually, the cork I took off this bottle was cork lined and said Lemon Lime Soda on its top. Who knows where he got these corks things from. Oh, he stored all the bottles in a cellar, just standing up. Of course, there was build up on the bottom of each bottle that was not drinkable. One just carefully poured from the storing bottle, into the serving bottle to not get any of the stuff which had built up over the years at the bottom of the bottle.

Thank you!, but gosh dont want you to have to start drinking! ask around maybe a friend of a friend, someone who works in a restaurant, could save you bottles, you could also use liquor bottles, so dont give up yet!
No special paint,just regular craft paint, I set my painted bottles by a small heater to dry, seems like the paint sticks and drys better, I do use a spray sealer useing three light coats.
Heres a photo of the inscent bottles I make incase you are looking for more ideas, need to put some glitter on that butterfly.

Thank you! most are things I have seen on the net or CD, I just do my own thing with them, if I dont have the right craft supplies try something else, pretty napkins make nice graphic to use on alot of things! I can not paint the small stuff so had to come up with something, the butterfly is paper I used gel pens to color and some 3D poster paint, had ment to put some glitter so it would sprakle!
