'Theme' Wreaths - they're catching on !!

Last year I made a wreath for my DH because he's a hunter - it had shotgun shells , brass rifle shells , all sorts of dried pine cones & wildflower doo dads and an orange & green camoflague bow on it.It was really cute ! Well - it caught on ... I've been asked to make some more this year for his hunting buddies.( I found 16" wreaths for $2.44 ) I got the bright idea of making wreaths for my family & delivering them before Christmas --- one person is a fisherman ,one is an auto mechanic ... one likes football ...the possibilities are endless ! My DH keeps telling me to get a booth at a craft fair to sell them ... if people keep asking me this much for them - I just might ! (Last year I made myself a PIG WREATH -- all kinds of little piggies on it !) Eveybody in my family knows I'm the

Goofy one !

LOL -- but it might be a cool Idea !

I think this is a great idea. After Christmas last year I got a bunch of 9" wreaths for a great price. Good idea I think I'll make some for the neighbors but I wont theme them. It will give me a chance to use up a lot of my "tinies"

I agree with Yachter, I'm no impressed with the wreaths. I've seen much better ones right here from this very creative bunch. DD is anxious for us to pick up our fresh evergreen wreath tomorrow at Trader Joes. She asked if we can decorate it her way this year (It's for the outside of our front door). Her way? Nothing but a big red bow . . . hmmmmm, ok, well that'll be easy enough ;^P

"Real" or Theme Tree at Christmas

Well, I suppose mine qualifies as both a "real" tree and a theme tree. My husband and I were married in my parents living room in front of a Christmas tree a week before Christmas. My mom handmade dozens of ornaments and then bought blue, silver and white (our wedding colors) balls as fillers. She wrapped up all the ornaments and trimmings and gave them to me. Every year since then, we put up our (artificial) tree and use the decorations and ornaments that were on the tree we got married in front of. Every year we get new ornaments for it. Usually on vacations, or to commemorate an event (child, house) and we always pick an ornament that goes with our color scheme. So our tree looks very color schemed/themed but they all mean a great deal to us. About 5 years ago, our kids ornaments that they had either made or been given became so numerous that we couldn't display our ornaments. I got a second tree for our bedroom, it is now our "wedding tree" and still our wedding colors. The main living room tree is a mish mash of all my kids ornaments. Two years ago, I put up a very skinny tree in my dining room with rainbow lights and covered it with all my childhood ornaments. Handmade ornaments I made when I was five or six. Wooden, hand sewen or painted ornaments given to me as gifts from my grandparents. So, I now have 3 trees, 2 of which might appear very "themed" but all of which are very real to me.

Too much- i did a bit of hunter wreath too- only i didn't think of shot gun shells. I used pheasant and turkey feathers, and half of a deer jaw as the centerpiece. Looks very nice, very fall-ish, with lots of browns and purples and oranges in it.

I'm making a Princess wreath with boa, white little gloves, tiara, faux pearl beads, plastic gold gemstone rings, sunglasses to ahng on my daughter's bedroom door.

Has anyone else been making theme wreaths? I need to decorate my cubicle at work and was thinking of making 12 small wreaths, one for each month and hang them on a garland. I have about a dozen 6" grapevine wreaths to use as a base. Suggestions anyone?

Has anyone seen the ones that you do with bows from presents, I.E. baby shower? You cover the straw wreaths with ribbon then hot glue the bows and package toppers, etc all around the wreath. Hang it on the door when the baby is born to announce to neighbors, etc, then put in the baby's room.

Hi, I am fairly new here, I love all the creative ideas here.I made a "cup and saucer" wreath a few years ago.

I used a grapevine wreath with greenery, flowers and old chipped cups and saucers, also old fork and spoon.

I do all kinds baby,gardening,I made one for winter I found a pair of ice skates at craft store looked original leather,tie up, They were about 3 1/2" long I tied them together like you do a pair with the laces,I put snowman head,scarf,I made snowballs with painted foam balls,mittens,really cute.clear mini light battery operated.For easter I made wreath with tie on yarn in a mossey green,I put regular sized eggs,a bunny,colored mini lights battery operated then on lights I put that color small plastic eggs.Its cute with eggs lit up.
