Does it take you long to brown meat?

I am making short ribs right now, and once again it is taking FOREVER to brown the meat. When I brown meat for braising, I like the outside to have a seared look to it, not just brown. That is how it is supposed to be, right?

On TV shows and in recipes they say it should just take 3-5 minute a side, but I swear it takes at least 10 minutes a side. A SIDE!!! And I do all four sides, two batches worth. Am I doing something wrong?

I am using a LeCreuset pan, olive oil, and a gas stove set to medium. That pan is sizzling away so I know it is hot.
