My dog has one of those too - his is red and he chewed the feet off. He usually chews to shreds every toy he gets but not this one. Weird, huh? It's his favorite toy. I have no idea why but when he wants to play he will search the entire house until he finds that ONE toy. Has a zillion tennis balls, various chewy treats, etc. laying around but nooooo, has to be that one.

Dogs are so funny. My Luke is truly a bright spot every single day for me. Could smooch on his lil velvety soft ears for hours if he'd let me. He does 'tolerate' several good snuggles throughout the day tho! :)

That's a Bad Cuz ball. The Good Cuz balls don't have the devil ears.

My Golden Retriever has a version of that stair game. He will stand at the top of the staircase and let the ball drop and expect you to throw it back up to him. Then he started summoning us to play by sitting at the top of the stairs, barking and waiting for someone to show up so that he could drop the ball to them.

How funny! My dogs are too dumb to figure out how to entertain themselves. Tho Aurora will sometimes run around and around, starting in the family room, thru the library and hall into the dining area, turn around and go back. She'll do this about 15 times in a row. She's not chasing anything, just running back and forth. I think she likes slipping on the slick floors.

I might have to look for one of those toys. My idiotas have killed every toy, even the Kong Wubba. They have a Kong type bone that they do not like, even when I put peanut butter in it. But they did have these little rubber dinosaurs that they kept intact for several years...till they broke thru them and then they were toast.

graywings- dh picked it out, how fitting he got the Bad one. We read about it on a dog forum about the noise it makes being really obnoxious but it was no big deal. Now it kinda just squirts/squeeks.

We go through those unchewable nylabones like you would not believe. They slide under the stove so that is first place to look when it is lost. My boy is VERY mouthy. This Cuz is the best. I am amazed he has not poked it yet. He has Kongs but they are only for outside because they flop around too much against the furnishings. He has this other ball thing that is cool. It looks like a socker ball with holes in the openings. It is like a sphere. Same rubber as Kong. Not sure where that went. Must look for that. His jolly ball keeps rolling into the pool. He whimpers when that happens. Too hard for the floors so that stays outside too. But that soccer ball thing is nice and soft, but it can be slimy when he shoves it into your lap.

So just after I posted he started doing that stair toss thing again. Right now he is on the floor "killing Baby". He also has just a round one that you put treats in, he only plays with that when he can't find Baby or Bony (nylabone).

Our first pup was addicted to the Kong. We lived on end of culdesac and every day we would toss it down the street. He would retrieve it until he could not breath anymore. When he got old doc asked what we did to keep his heart so strong. Daily Kong play!

My snowshoe siamese freaken cat, now that is another story. She plays fetch, I am serious she actually brings it back, with pink ponytail holders. She will literally dig through the basket and pick out only pink ones. We find them all over the house. That and legos. She will dig through bucket for a specific shape and toss it around the house. DS kept getting in trouble for dropping legos until we figured out it was actually the cat.

Pets... what would we do without them???

Such wonderful, hilarious pet stories!!! Shannon, your cat story blew me away! I'm not a cat person myself and although I've heard they can be very cuddly (when they want to), I have NEVER heard of one that plays fetch or picks out a certain color of anything. How amazing!
Being mom to a dobie, I'm always looking for good, durable, fun toys for Ronin. I'm going to look for that one today for him.

Our first two dobies were extremely hard on chew toys. I bought this Nylabone Galileo, which truly is indestructable . . . but we quickly nicknamed it "the toe breaker".

I had a cat (Opie) who learned how to fetch, too! His fetch toy was the plastic ring from milk containers. Once he learned to fetch, he'd actually initiate the game by finding one of the rings and dropping it in front of me to throw. He must have been quite attached to them because I'd occasionally find one in my bed.

Of course, he'd also bat them all over the place so I had plastic milk rings everywhere. It was really hard after Opie died when I'd be cleaning and come across one of his milk rings.

My previous cat, Louie (my bestest boy EVER), loved to fetch, for hours,until we had to hide the milk carton ring. (Cheap toys, aren't they, pugga?) We buried him with one. When went to get another cat, I told the Forgotten Fourpaws people about his fetching and they also said they'd never heard of that. We got Max from them and he learned to fetch in literaly minutes, though he tires after four or five throws. He prefers the plastic newspaper bags tied in knots. I think, sometimes people don't give cats the credit they deserve.

I love silly dogs. We have a fairly new puppy (11 months old) who will entertain himself in similar ways, too. He also hides his treats in our sofa cushions, which I'm not terribly thrilled about, as he digs around down there when he wants to get them out.

(I will say the upholstery has held up beautifully to a 60-lb puppy with huge paws digging frantically on it ... Hickory Chair linen-look nubby fabric, if anyone is interested, lol)

Lynn- we have the orange one with devil ears. I cannot even find a tooth puncture on it. Love it!

And why are the nylabones so, so.... how do I say this.... falic?! We get the ones that look like a bone at Walmart for 7.99, way cheaper than pet stores. He can gnaw tiny flecks off it so we have to watch it closely. He tosses it around on the wood floors, or shoves it at you when you walk by. The sharp edges are annoying. Whenever we can't find it we look under the stove, it usually slides under there.

This Cuz thing is amazing. He picks it up as soon as we head downstairs for breakfast. He runs around chasing us while we get ready for school/work. As soon as we come home he runs for it again.

Cats can be quite amazing too I agree. Sealy likes to hide between the shower curtain and liner and tease the dog. When he looks in one end, she runs out the other side. He will keep looking for her only to have us show his that she left the room 5 minutes ago.

We have a goldendoodle and unfortunately the poodle gene mutated the retriever gene and while our dog will chase a ball or toy, he doesn't like to give it back - he'd prefer you to chase him around and around the yard. Keep away is his favorite game.

His second favorite game is hide and seek. He plays this with my 12 year old. Jon will say, Want to play hide and seek Rudy? He'll tell him to stay and then head off into the house to hide. I'll tell him "okay" after 15-20 seconds and off he goes fast as he can looking for "the boy". There's only so many spots in our house, so the dog will go upstairs and then come down looking in the powder bath, behind the couch etc. The funny thing is how he "tracks" my son's scent. He comes into the room and opens his mouth and sticks his head up in the air - not really sniffing but more tasting the air! He always finds him, and it's great exercise for the dog.

That is funny, my kids play hide and seek too. The other day my dh asked him to find Baby and pup ran into the office and got it. He hid it from us in the corner. He knew it was there all along.

I saw a goldendoodle at NorthStar resort. 3mo old and sooooooo cute. All that curly hair but looked like a golden.

I need to get one of these for our dogs. Haven't seen them before, but everything else gets chewed up-even the cow femurs we got them at our natural pet food store! The cuz is way less disgusting than those huge bones-lol.

Too funny about dropping it down the stairs for himself! Also love the hide and seek stories. Aw, actually, love all these stories! :)

My mission for today is to find one of these balls, lol! My lab chews toys the second they come home! I won't buy rawhide bones no matter how big, because she chews them and they are gone in 20 minutes! I don't think all that rawhide sitting in her stomach is a good thing. She also chewed through a Kong. At Christmas a year ago she destroyed every toy she got from Santa on Christmas day! (Christmas is also her birthday, so she gets double the presents)! Walmart here I come!

My dogs used to destroy toys -- attack them until they were dead (quit squeaking, or decimated otherwise) and then move on to the next one. But when we moved out to this house 3+ years ago, they were no longer confined to a small yard and got three acres to roam. They get so tired during the day that the come inside to sleep - not play. So I hadn't bought them any toys in some time.

For Christmas I got Kato this rubber pig that squeaks differently depending on how hard you squish it. And it isn't heavy-duty like a Cuz, so I thought it wouldn't last long. Surprisingly, he is very protective of it! He likes to squeak it, and likes me to squeak it and kick it to him. But when he picks it up he does it very softly and lightly so he doesn't hurt it, and he puts it in his bed when he's not playing with it -- not the Kato I remember!

She LOVES this stupid LOUDly squeeking Alligator, and a "honking" bunny...both from Petco. A squeeking blue ball is pretty popular too!
She does kinda "toss" toys to us! A quick little flick of her head, and it's in our lap! Pretty funny!
