patio doors -- sliding, french, bifold?

Door from kitchen to deck is being framed for a 10' wide, 8' high patio door. Original plan was to have a 3 panel slider, but that turns out to have very little open-able space: about three feet of the entire 10 foot width!

Bifolders look really appealing, but the price jump is enormous. Also, a Marvin saleswoman told me that they do not do well when exposed to weather. Said that all manufacturers would require me to sign a waiver on the warrantee. Huh? I'm in the Bay Area and we do get significant rainstorms that target the location for this door.

4 panel sliders offer a little more open passage than the 3 panel did, but still less than 4 feet. Very surprising to me.

French is bigger still, but the doors need space to swing out and the deck is a mere 9' deep, so that's sub optimal.

Any ideas on how to come to a decision?
