Opinions on whether you should use them for baking? I would not. Whole wheat flour spoils very rapidly and tastes and smells bad to me -- at that age the other flours probably won't be any good either. I'd either compost it all, use it for making a kid's playdough, use it for paper mache, or something like that. I wouldn't eat it. It won't hurt you! it will just taste and smell bad. lol!

There are very few food items I discard, but old whole wheat and rye flours are one of them. I feel the same way - don't waste the time and other ingredients to produce a sub-par product.

I usually make dog cookies with it, unless it smells rancid. If the smell is just a little off, the mutts don't care.

I agree, whole wheat and rye go "off" quickly, I usually keep them in the freezer.

Dog cookies are a good idea, if you have a dog or have a friend who has a dog. Here it would become pig food, but I don't suppose you are raising pigs?

I would compost it, use it for play dough, whatever, but I would not use it for baking.

Thanks all.....Threw it all out.....Don't raise pigs anymore....moved to town.....miss the country living....but town is not bad for old......time bring changes.

Went to town this am.....no whole wheat or rye flour in our one grocery store let alone 7 grain hot cereal mix.......living in a small farming community and some things are just limited. First day it is not terrible windy and not to cold will head of to the city for shopping.
Will store next batch in freezer..
