Most of these High end ranges have computers and the Thermador also has this. The flashing lights put out a service code that tells a servicer like me what is wrong with the unit. Since you say this happened once before and the range was just recently installed it is probably poorly grounded or possibly has no ground. Most of the time this is not the fault of the appliance but is a problem with the household wiring.
As for as the service people being jerks because they can't get there before Christmas.
This is my busiest time of the year. Me and all my techs are booked out 2 weeks or more due to everyone who hasn't used their ranges/oven for the last year are just now finding out there might be a problem not to mention all my usual laundry and refrig calls and everybody wants their appliances fixed today !
We are all working 10 to 12 hour days at this time of year to try to accomodate all our customers and I'm sure it's the same for the all the Factory service techs out there. So I think your assesment of "their service people being jerks" is a little harsh. Busy?, yes, Jerks?, no.
There are only so many hours in a day.

Ooops did I say Jerks... Hmmmm I meant Jerks!!!! Yes when there is an on-going problem, that hasn't been corected after it had been serviced twice.. I'm sorry, I know the service industry is busy, (aren't we all) I do expect to be a priority in the situation

I worked for Thermador (B/S/H/ Home Appliances Corp) as a Regional Service Manager for years and I can tell you that the Electronic Control Boards on the current Pro-Range models have been a continuing source of oven failure since their introduction, just a few years ago. Most frequently, they fail if there is a simple power outage (not lightning damage or poor/missing ground), but simply switching off the circuit breaker or if the local power on your street is turned off and switched back on by your municipal power company. After a power outage, the Thermador Pro-Range circuit board typically fails upon power-up, while all other electrical and electronic devices remain unaffected and continue to operate throughout the home.

Also, some of my contacts have advised me it is now taking up to 1 1/2 months to obtain a scheduled service call by Thermador's own factory service division, B/S/H/ Manufacturers Domestic Appliance Service, headquartered in Huntington Beach, CA, servicing major metropolitan areas throughout the U.S.

I was all set to buy the full kitchen line of Thermador until reading the various reviews on this site.Other than the new Freedom line,it appears Thermador has some issues.I will say their customer support is nowhere near as knowlwdeable as SZ on their respective product.Its a shame...

bigdaddybondo: I have a 48" Pro Thermador that is 2.5 years old. Problem after problem. I recently had my supplemental warranty company, (GE) bought out my range and sent me a check for $9,300. I am getting my Thermador fixed and smiled all the way to the bank. I will play with it another two years or so, then probably replace it with another one when they get the kinks worked out in hte control panel. I think the Thermador is one of the best looking ranges out there.

well just a update... Thermador has offered to replace the range, and give m a 5yr warranty... I think i will keep them on a much shorter leash than that though... As for my other Thermador appliances, 7cycle DW, Bottom mount freezer, Hood, 27" combo Microwave/oven they all work great...

Well just an update, got the seconf Pro-Grand shortly after and I right away started having trouble with the 2 left burners.. this is nuts I thought... so I sent it back and got a by Wolf AG 36" grill... I do have to say though the Thermador had better, more acurate burners and oven, but, the Forman style grill was less superior to the Wolf. One other setback was Wolf ddin't make an AG self-cleaning range.. Lets just hope the new one is more reliable..
