Perhaps Samsung can provide more specific information about ice production per day per ice maker in the two models you are considering. That would be ideal. I have an earlier model of the RFG238 (counter-depth FD, with two ice makers), from Lowes. Reading the manual, I didn't see a specific mention of the amount of ice this fridge can make each day. But when setting it up, you are supposed to produce and discard about 45 ice cubes, so that's a rough estimate of one day's production. Whether or not filling 6 glasses each dinner will work depends a lot on how many cubes you use to fill these glasses. Also, if ice is more convenient when it is easily available through the door, consumption may increase (especially in summer). My recollection of previous threads on this question is that the second ice maker really becomes useful for larger families, and during parties. Smaller families may do fine turning off the lower ice maker much of the time (and using the extra space in the freezer). It may be nice to have extra capacity available as needed, as well.

Mominator61: We have had the Electrolux for about 1 month and we are very pleased. It has plenty of room for us and is quiet. This is our first french door model and it was difficult to judge the amount of space, but it clearly has more than enough for the two of us. It is bright inside and you can instantly see everything on the selves. We kept the ice tray in the freezer, its handy for holding little things and is a good place to put glasses when you want a frosty glass. We also like the frozen pizza slot in the door of the freezer. Overall it has a good design. and looks nice flush with our pantries. In our small kitchen it gave us the walking room we needed. I am confident you will like it.

Hi, Ever since we bought out electrolux refrigerator, we've had sporadic issues with the ice maker.... Freezing up, ice melting, etc. Within the first year of purchase, a technician did a software upgrade. But over the years, the ice problems have gotten worse. The fix has usually been to turn off the ice maker and restart it the next day. But now it's just officially broken. I've periodically reported the problems to Electrolux, but since I could temporarily fix the problems myself, I haven't had a service call. Searching online, it seems lots of people have issues with the 2010 ice maker. I'd love feedback and advice on the best way to handle this with Electrolux. Has anyone else successfully had the ice maker fixed or replaced by Electrolux since it seems that they are aware of the defective design? Thanks!

You should have the ice maker in the freezer, not the refrigerator. Many of the models with the refrigerator mounted ice makers have problems. The two drawers are the freezer. This has two freezer doors for easier storage and retrieval. The ice maker is in the upper freezer (upper drawer) The also have units that are built-in and panel ready.
